Abstract

PURPOSE: Sheath-core type composite fibers having improved hygroscopicity, antistatic properties and water absorption, obtained by using a polyester incorporated with a nonreactive polyoxyalkylene glycol as core parts.
CONSTITUTION: Sheath-core type composite fibers haivng durable hygroscopicity comprising (A) a polyester consisting mainly of repeating units of formula (n is an integer 2W6) as sheath parts and (B) the polyester incorporated with a polyoxyalkylene glycol substantially nonreactive with it as core parts. Preferably, the polyoxyalkylene glycol is used in an amount of 0.1W2- wt% based on the polyester, and the cross-sectional area of the core parts is 10W70% based on the whole cross- sectional area of the composite fibers.
