Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide cold storage and clean water supply functions by means of simple structure, consisting of a cooling unit, a cold storage chamber, an ice-making unit, an ice storage chamber fitted with a heating device, a melted water storage tank, and a discharge unit.
CONSTITUTION: Ice-making water from which impure substances have been removed is frozen in ice-making unit 20, and when ice making is completed, the remaining water containing many impure substances is discharged. Next, by supplying hot gas from the refrigerant system to the evaporator, ice lumps frozen in the ice making unit are dehydrated. Dehydrated ice lumps are recovered into ice storage chamber 22. Ice storage chamber 22 is fitted with a heating device 28, such as an electric heater, by which ice lumps are melted. Melted water is drawn into water storage tank 26 via passage 24 and stored there as clean water. A part of water storage tank 26 is exposed to the inside of cold storage chamber 14, by which the water storage tank is maintained at low temperaure. By this, clean water of high purity is maintained at a desired low temperature at all times, ready to be supplied whenever needed.
