Abstract

PURPOSE: To perform the detection for the noise level contained in the video signal by utilizing positively the inter-frame correlation, the inter-line correlation and the approximation correlation for isolation between the video signal and the noise.
CONSTITUTION: In the detector circuit which detects the noise level contained in the TV video signal to be supplied terminal 1, the input video signal is applied to 1-frame delay unit 2 and subtractor 3 to eliminate the video signal component of the frame correlation degree and then supplied to absolute value circuit 6. Furthermore, the output of circuit 6 is applied to 277Z memory 4 which delays the 227 subcarrier period as well as to subtractor 5. Thus, the video signal component featuring a high inter-line correlation is eliminated, and the output is supplied to absolute value circuit 7. After this, the isolation is given between the high and low parts of the correlation degree for the input video signal. Then the output of circuit 7 is applied to averaging circuit 9 via square circuit 8, and the signals taken into circuit 9 are selected via averaging control circuit 10 to give the square averaging to the output signal of circuit 7 on the time axis.
