Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the luminous efficiency of a fluorescent screen with infiltration into fluorescent particles prevented by increasing the viscosity of a filming solution on a fluorescent film surface by using the filming solution of low viscosity.
CONSTITUTION: Fluorescent film 2 formed on the internal surface of face panel 1 is made wet by an alkali solution and the surface of this wet fluorescent film 2 is applied with a boric acid complex solution of polyvinyl alcohol whose viscosity increases by alkali. As a result, the solution increases in viscosity at the entrance of many small gaps among fluorescent particles 4 and will not infiltrate inside, and after drying, the small-gap entrance is covered with resin film 3. Coating this film 3 with a filming solution forms a coating with its surface uniform with out infiltrating into particles 4, so that the luminous efficiency of the fluorescent screen can be improved. For the alkali solution mentioned above, aqueous ammonia of pH9 is suitable and for polyvinyl alcohol, a uni-size solution of 2% is suitable.
