Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce the carry-over amt. of an absorbing soln. and enable SOx in exhaust gas to be effectively removed by alternately arranging multistage spray parts and porous plates in an absorption tower in the longitudinal direction or placing a porous plate at the lower part alone of the tower or the upper part alone of the spray part of the tower.
CONSTITUTION: Spray parts 20 and porous plates 60 are alternately arranged in absorption tower 10 in the longitudinal direction, and SOx-contg. exhaust gas A is supplied 11 into tower 10 and exhausted in the direction of arrow B. During this time, absorbing soln. 13 is fed to tower 10 in the direction of arrow C, atomized at spray parts 20, sprayed into tower 10, and contacted to gas A. The opening ratio of plate 60 is pref. selected in such a degree that the soln. does not form a foaming phase on plate 60. By placing porous plate 30 at the lower part of spray parts 20, an exhaust gas current adjusting effect is shown and part of the absorbing soln. atomized at parts 20 and dropped as droplets is carried with exhaust gas and hit against plate 60 or dropped to the lower part of tower 10 while being joined with the gas through the pores of plate 60.
