Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a heat storing material in which nuclei of a hydrate are easily formed to enhance the upper limit value of hydrate yield up to 100 wt%, by adding a predetermined amt. of furan.17H2O and/or THF.17H2O to trichlorofluoromethane.17H2O.
CONSTITUTION: 20W70 mol% of THF.17H2O and/or furan.17H2O is added to trichlorofluoromethane.17H2O (R11.17H2O) to provide a heat storing material. For example, a compsn. obtd. by adding 27 mol% of THF.17H2O to R11.2∥O contains 6 wt% of THF. When this compsn. is stirred at several hundreds rpm while cooling to 0°C, it immediately begins to solidify and the temp. of the compsn. rises by about 3°C. After about 10 min, stirring is made impossible owing to a hydrate formed and the temp. of the compsn. becomes above 4°C. At the time of termination of heat generation, the compsn. is solidified to 100%, showing a m.p. of 8.1°C and heat of fusion of 68 cal/g. Thus, the compsn. has superior performance as a heat storing material for air cooling.
