Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent noise production accompanied with drop-out by subsequently recording digital signals into adjacent tracks. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic tape T has plural tracks T1, T2, ... which are mutually parallel in its lengthwise direction and is divided to plural segments D1, D2, ... in the latter of which the length of each is the length of the ditial signal of parallel (n) bits obtained by sampling analog signals. And the first sample value (a) is recorded in the track T1 of the segment D1 and the next sample value (b) in the track T2 in the same segment D1. If in this way the sample values are recorded subsequently in the adjacent tracks and the sample values as much as the track number are recorded, then the next sample value is recorded in the track T1 of the segment D2 in succession after the lowest bit (an) of the first sample value (a). The subsequent recording is performed in a similar manner as for the segment D1.
