Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the starting characteristic by providing a ring made by magnetic material to the short-circuit ring.
CONSTITUTION: The rotor core 11, the rotor conductor 12 set in the groove of the core 11 and the short-circuit ring 13 are provided, the magndtic material ring 14 the section of which is L-shaped is closed to the end surface and inner circumference of the ring 13, being fixed to the ring 13 with screws. With the magnetic material ring 14, when a large current of 50 or 60 Hz flows in the short-circuit ring 13 at starting, the ring 14 forms a magnetic path against the interlinkage flux as shown by the dotted line, a torque is developed by overcurrent induced in the magnetic path, resulting in the remarkable increase of impedance in the primary side. Thus the starting KVA drops, the rated torque can be maintained nearly constant by the developed torque.
