Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain an electro-deposition coating layer having excellent corrosion resistance, by the cathodic electro-deposition coating, using a metal substrate treated with an aqueous solution of a silane compound.
CONSTITUTION: A solution obtained by dissolving 0.01W10 parts, pref. 0.1W5 parts by weight of a silane compound in 100 parts by weight of an aqueous solvent, is applied to a metal substrate. The silane compound is pref. a silane coupling agent, e.g. an aminoalkoxysilane compound of formula I (R1 is 1W4C bifunctional hydrocarbon group; R2'5 are 1W4C monofunctional hydrocarbon group; Z is H, 1W4C aminoalkyl; m is 0,1.), and an epoxyalkoxysilane compound of formula II (R4 is 1W4C bifunctional hydrocarbon group; R5'6 are 1W4C monofunctional hydrocarbon group; Q is glycidoxy, epoxycyclohexyl, mercapto; n is 0,1.),etc.
