Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a pigment-attached phosphor or its slurry which endures storage and application orver a relatively long term after preparation by adding a gelatin deterioration inhibitor such as azide to a slurry of a phosphor to which a pigment is attached with a gelatincontg. binder.
CONSTITUTION: A gelatin deterioration inhibitor is added to a slurry of a phosphor to which a pigment such as iron oxide red pigment is attached by a gelatin-gum arabic binding method. As the inhibitor one or more kinds of azides such as sodium azide and chlorides such as benzalkonium chloride are used. By adding the inhibitor the resulting phosphor offers much advantage to a process for mass-producing color picture tubes, and it becomes unnecessary to compensate the amt. of the pigment in recovery and recycling of the pigment-attached phosphor.
