Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform controlling of image formation stably without receiving the influences such as of ink contamination of control electrode, change of properties of ink liquid, etc. by beforehand continuously applying bias potential to the control electrode. CONSTITUTION:A dielectric flat plate 1 is in contact with grounded conductive liquid form ink 3. A voltage of 2.6 to 3.0Kv is applied to a counter electrode 4 from a power source device 5 and a bias voltage of -200V is applied to a control electrode 7 from a power source device 8. The ink 3 forms an ink repulsion layer 11 and the electric lines of force from the electrode 4 are attracted to the electrode 7 like the arrows. The protruding ink in the nozzle 2 is not acted with electrostatic attraction and the ink does not fly. A pulse voltage of 20 to 200V is applied for 100 to 200mu seconds to the electrode 7 of the nozzle 2 desired to have the ink flown according to image information, from a pulse generator 9. The electric lines of force act upon the nozzle 2 like the figure and the ink liquid flying from the nozzle 2 forms the image on a printing medium 10.
