Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a lock ring to prevent a pipe fitting from separation which does not request any length adjustment in a narrow space and not either any complicated fitting work by such a construction that the lock ring is provided with a length adjustment device which enables to conduct length adjustment prior to coupling the lock ring in its divided ends between.
CONSTITUTION: A lock ring 7 is inderted in the diameter contracted condition into a socket 1 provided with a sealing material 4 and then enlarged in its diameter in the socket 1 so that the inside diameter becomes larger than the outside diameter of the projection 6 of the plug 2. The plug 2 is inserted in the socket 1 so that the projection 6 is located further inside the socket 1 than the lock ring 7. The diameter enlarging jig is removed and the diameter of lock ring 7 is contracted by the use of a diameter contracting jig and then the both coupling members 10a, 10b shall be fixed to each other by inserting the bolt 17 from a notch 20 on the socket 1. At this time, the length of the lock ring 7 is adjusted previously with a length adjustment device 9, so that fitting work of the lock ring 7 can be made readily.
