Abstract
PURPOSE: To surely and rapidly remove dissolved hydrogen from the coolant of a nuclear reactor, by injecting a hydrogen peroxide solution into the coolant and stirring them by the operation of a preheating removal system and accelerating the reaction of the solution with the hydrogen by radiation when the reactor is cold- stopped.
CONSTITUTION: The pressurized water reactor employs light water (H2O) or heavy water (D2O) as the coolant. Light hydrogen gas (H2) or heavy hydrogen gas (D2) is added to the coolant during the output operation of the reactor. After the output operation is stopped and the pressure and temperature of the coolant are reduced to a state of cold stoppage, a hydrogen peroxide solution (H2O2) or a deuterium peroxide solution (D2O2) is injected into the coolant so that the dissolved hydrogen or deuterium gas is removed from the coolant as H2O2+H2→2H2O or D2O2+D2→2D2O.
