Abstract
PURPOSE: To use specific mixtures as tackifiers for increasing strength of pellet feeds and crumbled feeds and thickeners for kneaded feeds, thereby to improve the tackiness and thickening property of the feeds.
CONSTITUTION: The tackifier and thickener contain sodium polyacrylate (PANA) and guaic gum. PANA is a synthetic thickening agent designated as a food additive and is utilized as a tackifier or a thickener, and its molecular weight is more than 200,000, preferably 1,000,000 to 10,000,000. Also, guaic gum is one of water- soluble natural polysaccharides, and it is also used as a tackifier or a thickener. The mixing ratio of PANA and guaic gum is preferably 0.1 to 10 parts of guaic gum per PANA. For instance, the tackifier or thickener for feeds are preferably added to the feeds at the ratio of 0.01 to 5%, and practically it is desirable to add the same at 0.05 to 1% to the feeds.
