Abstract
PURPOSE: To facilitate maintenance and checking works of bearings in a vertical underwater pump by composing the bearing sleeve and the bearing housing of its bearing system dividable into two or more parts in circumferential direction.
CONSTITUTION: In a vertical underwater pump delivering water to the intended place by discharging the water, to the water chamber, pumped up by a rotating impeller 2 provided at the lower end of the pump's main shaft 1 driven by a motor located outside the illustration, the guide bearing supporting the pump's main shaft 1 shall be such a bearing device 12 as having a bearing sleeve 13 made of plastics etc. and shall be mounted on the bearing mount 111. The bearing sleeve 13 is equipped with packings 7A, 7B at the upper and lower sides, respectively, and fresh water 71 with a higher pressure than that of inside the water chamber 5 is introduced to the area between those two packings to be applied as lubrication water. The bearing sleeve 13 and the tapered bearing housing 15 composing this bearing system 12 are divided into two half-circular pieces for the purpose of facilitating instalaion adjustment as well as a guide rail 17 and a guide flange 18 are provided for the purpose of facilitating mounting and removing works.
