Abstract
PURPOSE: To make it possible to erase any portion of signals recorded by making the reproducing optical beam following a recorded track follow the optical beam for erasing the recorded track.
CONSTITUTION: The reproducing laser beam 11 having passed through an information track 7 further passes through a recording medium 9 to irradiate the point of a solar cell 20 which is composed of solar cell elements 18 and 19. If the irradiation D of the laser beam 11 is displaced from the track 7, the input quantities of the cell elements 18 and 19 are varied so that their outputs are accordingly varied. Therefore a difference inbetween is taken by means of a differential circuit 21 so that a tracking mirror drive mechanism 22 is operated by the resultant signals to effect the tracking control. Since, on the other hand, a laser beam 2, which has a higher output than the laser beam 11 for erasing the track 7, enters a tracking mirror 4, it irradiates the track 7 similarly to the laser beam 11. As a result, the track 7' having passed through a point A is erased all the time while the laser beam 2 is generated. Thus, it is possible to detect the recorded signals thereby to erase any portion without fail.
