Abstract
PURPOSE:To effiectively damp lateral displacement of the tank by providing a fluid flow resistance made of baffle plates fixed to a spherical shell. CONSTITUTION:A spherical shell 2 is supported at its bottom by a ring 14 and baffle plates 15 through a supporter bar 12. In a tank 8 the baffle plates 15 tend to move laterally against the rest to reserved liquid 16. In particular, because the plates 15 are placed perpendicular to the vibration direction, the plates 15 are restricted in its lateral displacement by the fluid flow resistance of the liquid 16. This restriction process is assisted by the inwardly extending baffle plates 11 fixed to the walls 9 and 10 of the tank 8, promoting the buffer effect to damp the lateral displacement.
