Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the excellent damping effect of a bimorph type piezoelectric vibrator without adding a mechanical damping method to its outside, by connecting a resistance in series to a piezoelectric element.
CONSTITUTION: Bimorph type piezoelectric vibrator 13 consists of elastic metal plate 16 and piezoelectric elements 15 stuck to both the sides of it, and its center part is fixed to stand 14 via holders 7 and 8 of an insulator. Lead wires, fitted to electrodes stuck to surfaces of piezoelectric elements 15, are connected to driver circuit 17 via resistance 18. Piezoelectric element 15 is capacitive, bending displacement occurs by an applied voltage, and sudden rise step power applied to elastic metal plate 16 causes an attenuation vibration to occur. As a result, series resistance 18 is inserted into piezoelectric element 15 to lower the charging speed, so that damping can be attained. In this way, the excellent damping effect can be obtained without adding a damping method of complex structure to the outside, and an inexpensive piezoelectric actuator of simple structure can be realized.
