Abstract
PURPOSE: To expand the recognition range of an echo with a rate between luminous intensity and afterglow intensity made small by using (Zn,Cd)S:Cu and Cl for the 1st-layer fluorescent substance and Y2SiO5:Ce for the 2nd-layer fluorescent substance.
CONSTITUTION: The back surface of face plate 1 is coated with (Zn,Cd)S:Cu and Cl as the 1st-layer fluorescent substance 2 and Y2SiO5:Ce of 2 to 3μm in particle diameter as the 2nd-layer fluorescent substance. From the back of face plate 1, electron beam 5 strikes this fluorescent screen through aluminum foil layer 4 to make the 2nd-layer fluorescent substance 3 luminesce, and by this light, the 1st- layer fluorescent substance 2 is excited to luminesce. In this case, the peak wavelength of the luminescence of the 2nd-layer fluorescent substance 3 is between 390 and 420nm, which is within the effective excitation wavelength range 350 to 450 of the 1st-layer fluorescent substance and the grain diameter of the 2nd fluorescent substance 3 is extremely small, so that the contact area to the 1st fluorescent substance 2 will be widened. As a result, the 1st fluorescent substance is excited efficiently, afterglow intensity increases, and the rate between luminous intensity and afterglow intensity decrease. Further, the rate of use of beam increases.
