Abstract
PURPOSE: To perform reliable and efficient defrosting by controlling the commencement of defrosting corresponding to the refrigerant temperature and the relative humidity of air at an outdoor heat exchanger.
CONSTITUTION: A sensor 12 to detect the relative humidity of air at the inlet of an outdoor heat exchanger 8 and a control circuit 11 are installed. Output of a defrost sensor 9 and the humidity sensor 12 are input to the control circuit 11 which correlationally responds to both signals and determines if both signals are within the frost condition for actuation of a timer 10 setting a time until the start of the defrosting which is started when a defrost signal is given to the control circuit 11 to switch a four way valve 2 via a relay 13 whereby the defrosting is started after appropriate time when the refrigerant temperature of the outdoor heat exchanger is below the preset level and the relative humidity is above the preset level.
