Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a method of treating waste water of dyeing, which comprises the steps of adding inorganic metal salt to the waste water of dyeing, adjusting pH of the waste water at a value lower than 9.0, and then adding the waste water with polyvinyl alcohol type copolymer denatured by anhydride of cyclic acid, thereby removing COD components contained in waste water by way of coagulation.
CONSTITUTION: After addition of inorganic metal salt (for instance, hydro- chloride, sulfate or nitrate of iron, aluminum, calcium or others) to the waste water of dyeing, pH of waste water is adjusted to a value lower than 9.0, and then 0.5W 200 ppm of polyvinyl alcohol type copolymer denatured by anhydride of cyclic acid (for instance, substance obtained through reaction between polyvinyl alcohol type copolymer and anhydride of cyclic acid such as phtalic anhydride, maleic anhydride, adipic anhydride or other) is added to coagulate COD components in the waste water and thus to remove substances thus coagulated.
