PURPOSE:To hydrophilise a membrane using a simple and repeatedly usable method, by acting a polyalkylene oxide type cpd. with terminal hydroxide group, to a membrane of polymer with one or more than one H atoms bonded to one C atom and one or more than one halogen atoms bonded to the adjacent C atom in a repeating unit, inthe presence of base.
