Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce the fluctuations in the diameter of an optical fiber to less than Yen 0.5pi by making a nozzle of porous sintered metal or metal mesh and by injecting the gases, which have their velocity distribution uniformalized in the circumferential direction, to the circumferential surface of molten preform.
