Abstract
PURPOSE: High purity terephthalic acid is prepared by separating the mixture, obtained by the liquid-phase oxidation of the mixture of p-xylene and p-toluic acid methylester in the presence of heavy metal catalysts, and by washing the separated solid terephthalic acid obtained with the low boiling point distillate in the above reaction.
