Abstract
1412196 FET shift registers HITACHI Ltd 15 Jan 1973 [21 Jan 1972] 2099/73 Heading H3T In a two phase shift register including two memory circuits M1, M2 each having first, second and third FET's T1, T2, T3 and T5, T6, T6 connected as shown, first and second capacitors C1, C2; C3 and C4 are connected between a reference potential and the input electrode of the first transistor T1, T4 and the gate of the third transistor T3, T6, a third capacitor C6, C7 is connected between the gate and input electrode of the first transistor T1, T4 and the capacitance ratio of the third capacitor C6; C7 to the first capacitor C1; C3 is not less than 0À3. The capacitance ratio of the second capacitor C2; C4 to the first capcitor C1; C3 is preferably not less than 0À4. As shown when the clock signal #1 is applied T and T2 conducts and the data input signal at IN is transmitted to the gate of T3 and charges a capacitor C2. At the same time T3 conducts and the capacitors C3 and C7 of the memory circuit M2 are charged and point P falls to a negative value (Vpa, Fig. 3, not shown). The clock signal #1 now ends and when the clock signal cp2 is applied T4 and T5 conduct and T2 and T3 are off. A charge division is effected among the capacitors C3, C4 and C7 so that the capacitors C3 and C7 become partially discharged and C4 is charged. The potential at P becomes more negative (Vpb). At the same time as C4 is charged T6 conducts to provide an output. The charge dividing arrangement provides stable operation. The first and second capacitors C1, C2 may be formed with the junction capacitance only. The capacitors C6, C7 may be of silicon dioxide. The shift register may be formed as an integrated circuit.
