Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an adhesive which is safe, cost-effective and persistent by mixing a starch adhesive component, zinc oxide or magnesium oxide, and an antimicrobial germicidal component or a fungicidal component together in a neutral or acidic atmosphere. SOLUTION: In an alkaline atmosphere (pH 8.0), zinc oxide or magnesium oxide is dissolved. For this reason, in the starch adhesive, mixing is conducted in a neutral or acidic atmosphere (pH 5.0). Mineral acids including sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, and nitric acid, or organic acids except for acetic acid may be used in the acidic atmosphere. The average particle diameter of zinc oxide or magnesium oxide is pref. 0.1 to 0.6 μm. The amt. of zinc oxide or magnesium oxide incorporated is 0.005 to 0.5%. The germicidal component is pref. cetyl pyridylium chloride or chlorohexydine gluconate. The fungicidal component is pref. paraben, sodium benzoate, sodium propionate, or thiabendazole. The amt. incorporated is 0.001 to 0.1% based on the total amt. of the antimicrobial agent.
