Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a vinyl chloride resin compsn. which is highly flame- retardant and hardly generates smoke when burned by compounding a vinyl chloride polymer with specified amts. of zinc hydroxystannate and zinc borate. SOLUTION: This compsn. is prepd. by compounding 100 pts.wt. vinyl chloride polymer (e.g. PVC) with 1-20 pts.wt. zinc hydroxystannate and 5-30 pts.wt. zinc borate. The compsn. is further compounded with 30-60 pts.wt. plasticizer (e.g. dioctyl phthalate), 2-10 pts.wt. stabilizer (e.g. tribasic lead sulfate and lead stearate) and 5-100 pts.wt. filter (e.g. calcium carbonate) as required. Zinc of zinc hydroxystannate catalyzes the dehydrohalogenation of the polymer to accelerate the formation of a carbonized layer; thus, the generation of smoke is suppressed and the burning temp. is reduced by the endothermic reaction due to the volatilization of water generated by thermal decomposition. Zinc borate forms a glassy film and shuts off the supply of oxygen.

て炭化層の形成を促進し、煙の発生を抑えると共に熱分
解による水分の揮発による吸熱反応が燃焼温度を低下さ
せる機能を有する。また、ほう酸亜鉛はガラス状の被膜
を形成し、酸素の供給を遮断すると考えられる。そし
て、これら両者を併用配合した時に相乗効果により大き
な難燃化、煙抑制効果が得られる。本発明の組成物は上
記成分の他、通常、可塑剤、安定剤、充填剤、酸化防止
剤、紫外線吸収剤、顔料等を含み得る。例えば、塩化ビ
ニル系ポリマー100重量部に対し、可塑剤は、30〜
60重量部、安定剤は2〜10重量部、充填剤は5〜1
