Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an appendage for a feeder hardly damaging the accuracy of an experiment and hardly requiring time and effort for an operation on the management of the experiment, and a cleaning operation by eliminating deficiency such as the contamination by excrement or the like of an animal in the interior of a feeding bottle, and spilling out of feed from the feeding bottle. SOLUTION: This appendage for a feeder is the one 1 attached to the upper part of the opening part 3 of a feeding bottle 2 having the opening part 3 on the upper surface side, having a connecting part 7 for connecting the appendage 1 to the part near to the opening part 3 of the feeding bottle 2, and a dividing part 8 for dividing the opening part to plural regions. The dividing part 8 divides the opening part 3 to plural regions having areas not to be ridden by an animal to be fed, and the height of the dividing part 8 is the height not to be ridden by the animal.

[0003] When feeding is performed using a conventional feeding bottle, the feeding bottle is filled with a predetermined amount of powdered food, and the feeding bottle is placed on the floor inside a cage (ori) containing a mouse. As a result, the mouse inserts its mouth into the opening at the top of the feeding bottle and eats the food by itself, so-called free-feeding is performed.

When a mouse rides on a feeding bottle, there is a case where excrement (feces or urine, etc.) or floor bedding (wood scraps, etc.) is mixed in the food in the feeding bottle. In some cases, the loss of food is increased when the mouse scrapes the food in the feeding bottle to the outside with the foot.

As the feeding bottle 2, a commercially available wide-mouthed stationary bottle is used. The feeding bottle 2 is a feeding bottle main body 4 which is a glass cylindrical container for storing the food, and the feeding bottle 2 is for preventing the bait from being scraped out and for preventing the mouse head and legs from falling into the feeding bottle main body 4. And a lid 6 for pressing the mesh-shaped middle plate 5. The lid 6 has the opening 3 formed in the top plate 6a, and an internal thread (not shown) for screwing into the external thread 4a on the feed bottle main body 4 side is formed on the inner peripheral surface. The dividing section 8 divides the opening 3 into a plurality of areas so that the opening 3 is not large enough for a mouse to ride on. The size (maximum length) of each area varies depending on the size of the mouse to be fed, but usually, the body length L of the mouse
The target is about 16% or less. In other words, the opening 3
For example, as shown in FIG. 2, the divided individual regions are set so that the head of the mouse M can enter, but the trunk does not enter. Therefore, the mouse M can enter the head from the direction of the arrow A or the arrow B into the plurality of regions of the opening 3 divided by the dividing unit 8 and can freely eat food as before. However, even if the mouse M tries to get on the feeding bottle 2, since there is no head space when the accessory is installed in a commercially available cage, the feeding bottle 2
Can't get on.

Moreover, as shown in FIG. 1, the dividing section 8 has a height h such that the mouse M cannot ride thereon, and therefore cannot be placed on the feeding bottle 2.

If the height h of the dividing part 8 is about 53 mm, the mouse cannot ride on the dividing part 8 and the feeding bottle 2 to which the accessory 1 is attached is easily placed on the skewer in which the mouse is stored. There is an advantage that it is easy to put in and out.

The dividing portion 8 shown in FIG. 1 is formed by assembling a plurality of plate-like members in a well shape and then standing upright, so that it is easy to manufacture and has sufficient strength. The incorporation of a punching plate of the same type facilitates assembly, can be easily removed, and has effects such as easy cleaning.

Since the outer peripheral portion 8a of the dividing portion 8 is inclined toward the center of the opening 3 of the feeding bottle 2 as going upward, the mouse slides on the inclined surface and is placed on the accessory. By making it difficult to ride, there is no mixing of excrement and bedding into the feeding bottle, and thus there is an effect that measurement of the amount of remaining food becomes easy.

Further, the connecting portion 7 has a slit 7a for opening a part of the lower end of the plate member downward.
Since it is formed by notching, it can be easily formed, and by fitting the lid 6 to the slit 7a, the accessory 1 can be firmly connected to the feeding bottle 2. Particularly preferred.

Experimental Example As for animals, 30 Crj: CD-1 (ICR) mice, 4 weeks old (male), were acclimated for 1 week (semibarrier system, temperature 23 ± 1 ° C., humidity 55 ± 5%, ventilation frequency) 15 times / hour, 12 hours light / dark), then 5 groups per group in the same environment
Group of feeding bottles equipped with the well-shaped accessory of the present example (Example), and three groups of commercially available feeders (dome type, box type, cylindrical type) Breeding) and a conventional method of feeding bottles alone, a total of seven groups were studied. The “dome type” is a stainless steel feeder with a shape similar to a glass feeding bottle, and a dome-shaped attachment is attached. The “box type” is a square box type The inside is divided into about three places by a partition plate. The “cylindrical type” is a cylindrical feeder in which the food falls from the upper surface to the lower part as the mouse consumes the food. Is coming.

The feed was CE-2 (Clea Japan).
Was freely ingested, and drinking water was freely ingested by automatic water supply. The study period was 7 weeks, during which the body weight, intake and the number of contaminants (excreta and bedding (alpha dry)) in the feeder were measured twice a week (Monday, Friday). In addition, the degree of contamination of the feeder was visually observed at the time of measurement.
