フォトクロミックスピロキサジン組成物
およびそれを含有する製品
本発明は、特にフォトクロミック特性を示すスピロキサジン(spiroxazine)
型の新しい化合物に関するものである。本発明はまた、スピロキサジンを含有す
るフォトクロミック組成物および眼用製品(例えば、レンズ)に関するものであ
る。
フォトクロミック化合物は、多色光または単色光(例えば、紫外線)の影響に
より色を変えられ、それらは、光が照射されなくなったとき、または最初の光と
は異なる多色光または単色光の影響により、あるいは温度および/または最初の
光とは異なる多色光または単色光の影響により、最初の色を復元することができ
る。
これらのフォトクロミック化合物は、様々な分野において、例えば、眼鏡レン
ズ、コンタクトレンズ、サングラス、フィルタ、カメラまたは写真装置または他
の光学並びに観察装置の光学部材、ガラス隔壁、装飾物、展示物品、または光学
的書込みによる情報記憶(コーディング)に利用されている。
眼用光学部材の分野、特に眼鏡分野において、1種類以上のフォトクロミック
化合物を含むフォトクロミックレンズは、:
− 暗い状態または日光の当たらない状態での高透過率、
− 日光に曝したときの低透過率(高着色適性)、
− 着色および脱色の適切な動力学、
− 好ましくは、レンズの着色および脱色の過程で選択された色を維持する、
消費者に受け入れられる色合い(好ましくは、灰色または栗色)、
− 0−40℃の温度範囲における特性の維持、
− 目的とする対象が高性能の、したがって、高価な矯正レンズであるので、
著しい耐久性を示さなければならない。
これらのレンズの特徴は実際に、レンズを構成する有機支持体または鉱物支持
体と完全に相溶性でなければならない活性フォトクロミック化合物により決定さ
れる。
さらに、灰色または栗色の色合いを得るには、異なる色、すなわち、可視範囲
において異なる最大吸収波長(λmax)を有する少なくとも2種類のフォトクロ
ーム(photochrome)を使用する必要があるかもしれない。したがって、このよ
うな関係から、フォトクロミック化合物にさらに他の必要条件が課せられる。特
に、2種類以上の関連活性フォトクロミック化合物の着色および脱色の動力学が
、実質的に同一でなければならない。これと同様のことが、ある期間に亘る安定
性、また、プラスチック支持体または鉱物支持体との相溶性に当てはまる。
従来技術に記載されている多数のフォトクロミック化合物の中でも、米国特許
第3,578,602号、同第3,562,172号、同第4,215,010号、欧州特許第0,171,909号、
同第0,313,941号、フランス国特許第2,647,789号および欧州特許第0,600,669号
に記載されているインドリノスピロナフトキサジンを引用することができる。
これらの分子の基R1は、直鎖または枝分れアルキル、アルキルアリールまた
は脂環式炭素を示す。これらの化合物は、上述した仕様を満たすと考えられてい
る。
実際に、これらの化合物は、暗い状態での高透過率、日光に曝されたときの高
着色適性、青または紫(570-630nm)における吸収、着色および脱色の迅速な
動力学のような求められている1つ以上の基本特性を有するが、今日まで、記載
された化合物の全てが、工業的に製造できる満足のいく製品の製造に必要とされ
る所望の特性の完全な組合せを有しているわけではない。
従来技術には、環の異なる位置に置換基を加えることにより吸収バンドを変更
する方法が教示されており、また、脱色の動力学を変更する方法が教示されてい
るが、これとは対照的に、不活化状態における残留色を増大させずにこれらの分
子の着色適性を増大させる方法および、中でも、工業規模で使用できるようにそ
れらを光化学的に安定にする方法は教示されていない。実際に、安定性が高くな
ければ、高性能なレンズ中に導入するのに、これらの高価な分子を使用すること
はできない。
予期せぬことに、多環式基、好ましくは、二環式アルカリ基が存在することに
より、上述した用途にとって必須である、安定性、残留色および着色適性の問題
を解決できることが分かり、これは利点である。
本発明の独創性は、優れた光安定性を確保しつつ、残留色を増大させずにスピ
ロキサジンの着色適性を増大させる、多環式基の驚くべき効果にある。
したがって、本発明は、以下の化学式(I):

− R1が、少なくとも1つの他の脂肪族および/または芳香族環であって、
環が必要に応じて少なくとも1つのヘテロ原子および少なくとも1つの不飽和を
含んでいても差し支えない環と結合した、架橋した、または縮合された少なくと
も1つの脂環式基により形成された多環式基であり、
− R2,R3が同一または異なり、これらが、1−12炭素原子の直鎖または枝
分れアルキル基、アルケニル基、アルキニル、アリール、アルキルアリール、シ
クロアルキルを示し、R2およびR3が、必要に応じて、結合して5から10までの
原子を有する炭素環式基または複素環式基を形成しても差し支えなく、
− R4,R5,R6およびR7が同一または異なり、これらが:
■ 水素、
■ アルキル、シクロアルキル、アルケニル、アルキニル、アリール(好まし
くは、フェニル、電子供与体または受容体基によりモノ−、−ジ−またはトリ置
換されたナフチル)、ヘテロアリール、アリールオキシまたはアラルキル、該基
が必要に応じてハロゲン化されており、
■ ハロゲン、好ましくはF、Br、Cl、
■ R=H、アルキルおよび/またはシクロアルキルおよび/またはアリール
である、OR、SR、−OCOR、−COOR、

■ *一度(I)内で結合されたら、第一、第二、第三アミンであって、該ア

ラルキルであるアミンを生じるアミノラジカル、
*または必要に応じて1つ以上のヘテロ原子を含有するアミノ環式ラジカ
ル、
■ または、好ましくは、CF3、CN、NO2、SCNからなる群より選択さ
れる電子吸引基を示し、
− 好ましくは2つの隣接する炭素原子により担持された、少なくとも2つの
ラジカルR4、R5、R6、R7が結合して、5または6の員を有する少なくとも1
つの芳香族環または5から7までの員、好ましくは5または6の員を有する脂肪
族環を形成し、該環が、必要に応じて、少なくとも1つの複素式環を形成するよ
うに少なくとも1つのヘテロ原子を含み、該複素式環が、同一または異なってい
てもよく、R4からR7までに関して上述したものと同一の定義を有していてもよ
い1つ以上のラジカルにより必要に応じて置換されており、
− Aが(ヘテロ)芳香族環(例えば、少なくとも1つの窒素原子を含有する
)および同一または異なっていてもよく、R4からR7までに関して上述したもの
と同一の定義を有している、1つ以上のラジカルR8により置換されていること
もある環を示し、
− nが整数であり、n≧2の場合には、2つのラジカルR8が結合して、少
なくとも1つの芳香族環または複素式環を形成することもある化合物、特にフォ
トクロミック化合物に関するものである。
好ましくは、R1は二環式基を示す。R1が非対称二環式基を示すことが特に好
ましい。非対称は、基の性質または置換基の存在のいずれの結果であっても差し
支えない。そのような非対称二環式基の好ましい例としては、置換または未置換
ノルボルニル基が挙げられる。
本発明によれば、少なくとも1つのR1の環を、R4からR7までに関して上述
したものと同一の定義を有する少なくとも1つの置換基R9により置換すること
を検討することもできる。
基R1の特定の例は、多くの中でも以下のとおりである:
本発明の好ましい化合物は、以下の化学式(I’):
であって、ここで、A、およびR1からR7までが上述のように定義され、Bが
、5から7までの員を有し、必要に応じてヘテロ原子を含み、同一または異なっ
ていてもよく、R4からR7までの関して上述したものと同一の定義を有していて
もよい1つ以上のラジカルにより置換されていてもいなくてもよい芳香族環また
は脂肪族環である式を有する。
本発明の特に好ましい実施の形態によれば、環Aはフェニル基であり、R4お
よびR5が結合して、それらを担持するフェニル基により縮合された二環式芳香
族環またはアニールされた芳香族環を形成する。このことは、以下の化学式(I
’’)
であって、R1からR4までおよびR6からR8までが上述したように定義され、n
およびmが0から4までの値である式に対応する。
本発明による化学式(I)、(I’)および(I’’)を有する化合物に関し
て検討しても差し支えない置換基の中で、好ましくは、以下のリスト:アルケニ
ル、好ましくはビニル、メタクリロイル、アクリロイル、アルリロキシアルキル
、メタクリロキシアルキルまたはエポキシから選択される、重合および/または
架橋のために少なくとも1つの反応性機能をそなえたおよび/または成形する基
R4からR9までを検討しなければならない。
このように、本発明によるフォトクロミック化合物は、それら自体の間でまた
は他のコ単量体と反応して、フォトクロミック官能性を担持し、重合体の機械的
特性を有するホモ重合体および/またはコ重合体を形成する異なった種類のまた
はそうではない単量体として設計することができる。このことは、本発明の目的
のうちの1つが、(共)単量体からなるこれらのコ重合体またはホモ重合体によ
り、および/または本発明によるフォトクロミック化合物(I)、(I’)およ
び(I’’)から少なくとも一部が構成される架橋により達成されることになる
。
同一の発想において、上述した化合物(I)、(I’)および(I’’)は、
フォトクロミック特性であるかまたはそうではない重合体鎖の間で橋を形成する
ことのできる反応性機能を有する架橋剤であると考えても差し支えない。このよ
うにして得られる架橋化合物を提供することもまた、本発明の別の目的である。
一般的な様式で、前述した化学式において、本発明によれば、以下の名称を使
用する:
− 好ましくは1から12までの炭素原子を有する直鎖または枝分れ炭化水素基
を称する「アルキル」;
− 1から10までの炭素原子を好ましくは有する0−アルキル型の基を称する
「アルコキシ」;
− 少なくとも6の炭素原子を含有する芳香族炭化水素基を称する「アリール
」;
− 少なくとも5の原子からなり、そのうちの少なくとも1つがヘテロ原子で
ある芳香族炭化水素基を称する「ヘテロアリール」;
− 上述のごとく定義した、少なくとも1つのアルキルおよび少なくとも1つ
のアリールからなる基である「アラルキル」;
− 好ましくは以下の基:N、O、SおよびPに属する、CおよびHとは異な
る原子である「ヘテロ原子」。
したがって、本発明の環境において特に優先的に使用されるフォトクロミック
化合物は、上述したことから結論付けられるように、インドリノスピロナフトキ
サジンまたはインドリノスピロベンゾキサジンである。
最も好ましいインドリノスピロキサジンとしては、化学式:

を有するものか挙げられる。
これらの化合物は特に優れたフォトクロミック特性を示すので、これらの化合
物を開示したことが利点である。より詳しくは、それらの化合物は、特に青の領
域において高い着色適性を有する。したがって、それらの化合物は、相溶性およ
び補色の必要条件を観察して、可視吸収スペクトルの広い範囲、したがって、栗
色または濃い灰色である色合いを得るように、黄、橙、赤および紫において吸収
するフォトクロームとの組合せによく適している。
感受性、並びに可視におけるλmaxピークの高さおよび面積により、満足な値
が
得られる。
これらの化合物はまた、完全に安定しており、マトリクス内に含まれた形態に
おいても、コーティングの形態においても、有機重合体または鉱物材料から作ら
れた支持マトリクスと相溶性がある。
溶液または重合体マトリクスにおいて、本発明による化合物は、初期状態で無
色またはごくわずかしか着色されておらず、紫外線(365nm)または太陽型の
光源に曝すと迅速に強く着色される。最後に、本発明の化合物は、照射が停止さ
れると初期色に急速に回復する。
本発明の化合物は、多環式R1基により置換されたインドリン誘導体および、
例えば、米国特許第3,578,602号、同第4,634,767号、同第4,913,544号、および
欧州特許第600,669号に記載されているもののような芳香族ニトロソアルコール
の縮合により得ることができる。この反応は、エタノール、トルエンまたはジク
ロロエタンのような溶剤内で行うことができる。
インドリン誘導体は、文献から適応される方法により得られる。
工程1は、Katritzky等のTetrahedron 47:2683,1991に記載されている方法に
したがって行う。アミンのニトロソ化(工程2)は、亜硝酸ナトリウム−塩酸と
の反応により行い、ニトロソ誘導体の還元(工程3)は、THF中のLiAlH4
の
反応により行われる(Fridman等,Russian Chemical Reviews 40(1):34,197)。
最後の合成工程(4)は、ヒドラジンを、酸性媒質、例えば、塩酸/エタノール
または酢酸内の適切なケトンと反応させることにより行う(この反応の概説に関
しては、Robinsonの「Fischer indole synthesis」Wiley-Interscience,1982を
調べることができる)。
本発明による化合物の用途の場合には、重合体マトリクスまたは鉱物マトリク
スの組成物内または表面部分内に分散されたフォトクロミック材料として本発明
の化合物を使用しても差し支えない。それらの化合物を溶液内に用いても差し支
えない。
フォトクロミック溶液は、トルエン、ジクロロメタン、テトラヒドロフランま
たはエタノールのような有機溶剤内に化合物を溶解させることにより得ることが
できる。得られた溶液は一般的に、無色透明である。この溶液は、日光に曝され
たときに強く発色し、日光にあまり曝されない区域内に配置されると、言い換え
れば、もはや紫外線に曝されなくなると、無色の状態に戻る。一般に、強い発色
を得るのに、ごくわずかな濃度の製品(約0.01−5%)を使用するだけで十分で
ある。
最も強力な用途は、フォトクロームが重合体、コ重合体または重合体の混合物
内またはそれらの表面に均一に分散されている用途である。様々な実施方法が考
えられる。当業者に知られている方法の例としては、シリコーン油、脂肪族また
は芳香族炭化水素、グリコール内のフォトクロームの懸濁液または溶液からの、
または別の重合体マトリクスからの、(共)重合体内の拡散が挙げられる。拡散
はありきたりのように、重合体マトリクスの性質に依存して、15分から数時間ま
での期間に亘り、50−200℃の温度で行われる。
別の実施技術は、重合性物質の配合物内にフォトクロームを混合し、この混合
物を表面または型内に付着させ、次いで、重合を行う工程からなる。
これらと他の実施技術が、1992年,Blackie and Son Ltd.により出版されたApp
lied Photochromic Polymer Systemsに掲載されたCran等の「Spiroxazine and t
heir use in photochromic lenses」の文献に記載されている。
本発明の変更形態によれば、フォトロームを(共)重合体上にグラフトさせる
ことを考慮することもできる。したがって、本発明の別の目的は、上述したフォ
トクロームの少なくとも1種類がグラフトされる(共)重合体からなる。
本発明によるフォトクロミック化合物の光学用途に好ましい重合体材料の例と
しては、以下の製品が挙げられる:
− 必要に応じてハロゲン化されたまたは少なくとも1つのエーテルおよび/
またはエステルおよび/またはカーボネートおよび/またはカルバメートおよび
/またはチオカルバメートおよび/または尿素および/またはアミド基を含む、
アルキル、シクロアルキル、アリールまたはアリールアルキル(モノ、ジ、トリ
またはテトラ)ポリアクリレートまたはポリメタクリレート、
− ポリスチレン、ポリカーボネート(例えば、ビスフェノール−Aポリカー
ボネート、アリルジエチレングリコールポリカーボネート)、ポリエポキシ、ポ
リウレタン、ポリチオウレタン、ポリシロキサン、ポリアクリロニトリル、ポリ
アミド、脂肪族または芳香族ポリエステル、ビニル重合体、酢酸セルロース、セ
ルローストリアセテート、酢酸プロピオン酸セルロースまたはポリビニルブチラ
ール、
− 複数種の単量体のコ重合体または上述した重合体の混合物、好ましくは、
ポリカーボネート−ポリウレタン、ポリ(メタ)クリレート−ポリウレタン、ポ
リスチレン−ポリ(メタ)クリレートまたはポリスチレン−ポリアクリロニトリ
ル、都合よくは、ポリエステルとポリカーボネートまたはポリ(メタ)クリレー
トとの混合物。
使用するフォトクロームの量は、所望の暗色化の度合いに依存する。普通は、
0.001−20重量%の量で用いられる。
本発明によるフォトクロミック化合物を単体で、または他の生成物との混合物
に用いて、固体または液体の形態、例えば、既に上述したように、溶液内または
懸濁液内に用いられる組成物を形成しても差し支えない。したがって、本発明の
別の目的を構成するこれらの組成物は、本発明の化合物(I)、(I’)および
眼鏡またはサングラスのような用途において大衆に望まれている暗い着色、例え
ば、灰色または茶色が得られる他の補色フォトクロミック化合物からなっていて
も差し支えない。これらの補色フォトクロミック化合物は、本発明の化合物と組
み合わせた後に、全可視スペクトルを含み、活性化フォトクロームの混合物に所
望の色を与える吸収スペクトルが得られるような可視におけるλmaxおよび吸光
度表面積を有している。
本発明の化合物と組み合わせても差し支えないフォトクロームは、当業者に知
られており、文献に記載されているもの、例えば、クロメン(米国特許第3,567,
605号、同第5,238,981号、国際特許第9,422,850号、欧州特許第0,562,915号)、
スピロピランまたはナフトスピロパン[sic;ナフトスピロピラン](来国特許
第5,238,981号)およびスピロキサジン(J.C.Crano等,「Applied Photochromic
Polymer Systems」出版社,Blackie & Son Ltd.,1992,Chapter 2)である。
本発明によるこれらの化合物はまた、
− 濃淡を調節できる非フォトクロミック染料、
− および/または、例えば、酸化防止剤のような1種類以上の安定剤、
− および/または1種類以上の耐紫外線剤、
− および/または1種類以上の耐ラジカル化合物、
− および/または1種類以上の光化学励起状態の不活化剤を含んでいても差
し支えない。
これらの添加剤により、本発明の組成物の耐久性を改良することができる。
フォトクロミック化合物(I)、(I’)の用途に適する別の形態によれば、
本発明はまた、上述のように定義した、本発明による少なくとも1種類の化合物
および/または種類(I)、(I’)の循環単位から少なくとも一部が形成され
た少なくとも1種類の(共)重合体および/または本発明による化合物(I)、
(I’)からなる少なくとも1種類の組成物および/または、有機重合体材料ま
たは鉱物材料または少なくとも1種類の本発明の化合物を含む鉱物−有機ハイブ
リッド材料から形成された、上述のように定義された、少なくとも1種類のマト
リクスからなる、眼鏡またはサングラス製品のような眼用製品に関するものであ
る。
実際問題として、本発明が具体的に言及している製品は、フォトクロミック眼
鏡レンズまたはサングラス、グレア隔壁(建物、機関車、自動車用の窓)、光学
装置、装飾製晶、耐日光製品、データ記憶等である。
本発明は、本発明に関連する、以下のフォトクロミック合成の実施例および化
合物(I)、(I’)および(I’’)の確認に照らして良好に理解されよう。
実施例
本発明によるフォトクロミック化合物(1)−(8)の合成および性質
(実施例1−8)
化合物(1)−(8)の化学式を以下に示す(表I参照)。実施例1
:化合物(1)の合成
工程1
2−ノルボルニルフェニルアミンの合成
ディーンスターク分離器を備えた250mLフラスコ内において、以下の混合物
を還流させた:9.3gのアニリン、12.1gの2−ノルボルナノン、13.2gのベン
ゾトリアゾールおよび120mLのキシレン。16時間後、混合物を乾燥させ、次い
で、300mLのメタノール中に可溶化させ、生成物を1時間に亘り50℃で6gの
NaBH4で還元させた。次いで、混合物を200mLの水中に注ぎ入れ、有機生成
物を100mLのトルエンで3回抽出した。有機相を回収して、硫酸マグネシウム
上で乾燥させ、次いで完全に乾燥させた。このようにして、20gの所望のアミン
を生成した。
工程2
1−(2−ノルボルニルフェニル)−1−フェニルヒドラジンの合成
前の工程からのアミン(20g)を100mLの塩酸(1N)中に懸濁させ、次い
で、混合物を撹拌しながら0℃に保持した。次いで、NaNO2の水溶液(20m
Lの水中に7g)を少量ずつ混合物に加えた。次いで、温度を周囲温度まで上昇
させ、ニトロソ誘導体を100mLのトルエンで3回抽出した。溶剤を蒸発させた
後、26gの生成物を回収した。次いで、この生成物を、ゆっくりと少量ずつ、7
gのLiAlH4を含有するテトラヒドロフラン(200mL)中に加え、次いで、
混合物を1時間に亘り周囲温度に保持した。続いて、混合物を0℃に冷却し、次
いで、過剰の水素化物を水酸化ナトリウムの水溶液で中和した。次に、30gのN
a2SO4を加え、有機相を濾過により回収し、乾燥させた。このようにして、21
gの所望
のヒドラジンを生成した。
工程3
2−メチレンインドリン誘導体の合成
100mLのフラスコ内において、前の工程からの21gのヒドラジンおよび50℃
で2mLの酢酸を含有する100mLのエタノール中の8.6gの3−メチル−2−ブ
タノンを反応させた。次いで、15mLの濃縮塩酸を加え、30分間に亘り還流させ
た。次いで、混合物を水酸化ナトリウムでpH10に中和して、インドール誘導体
を100mLのイソプロピルエーテルで3回抽出した。溶剤の蒸発後、17gの所望
の生成物を調製した。
工程4
スピロキサジン(1)の合成
前の工程からの生成物(3g)および1.5gの1−ニトロソ−2−ナフトール
を50mLの無水エタノール中に溶解させ、次いで、混合物を1時間に亘り60℃で
加熱した。次いで、混合物を0℃に冷却した。30分後、沈殿した生成物を濾過に
より回収し、エタノール(20mL)で洗浄した。次いで、固体をエタノール中で
再結晶化させた。820mgの所望の生成物を、濾過後に単離した。この構造をN
MR分光分析法により確認し、さらに、これによって、2種類の異性体の存在が
確認された(ニルボルニル環の窒素のエンド位置またはエキソ位置のために):実施例2
:化合物(2)の合成
実施例1の工程3からの生成物(2.6g)および1.9gの1−ニトロソ−2,7
−ジヒドロキシナフタレンを130mLのエタノール中に溶解させ、混合物を5時
間に亘り還流させた。9位置でヒドロキシル化されているスピロキサジンを、溶
離剤としてトルエン/メタノール混合物(9/1)によりシリカカラムのクロマト
グラフィーにより反応混合物から単離した。次いで、生成物のメチル化を、4時
間に亘り30℃で炭酸カリウムの存在下でアセトン中の硫酸ジメチルにより行った
。溶離剤としてのトルエン/ヘプタン(1/1)混合物によるシリカカラムのクロ
マトグラフィーによる精製後、1.8gのスピロキサジン(2)を単離した。この構造
をNMR分光分析法により確認した。実施例3
:化合物(3)の合成
化合物(3)を実施例1と同様な方法で合成した。実施例1において、アニリン
の代わりに、3,4−ジメチルアニリンを用いた。工程2および3によりインド
リン誘導体を生成し、次いで、1−ニトロソ−2−ナフトールにより縮合し、ス
ピロキサジン3を生成した。これをシリカカラムのクロマトグラフィーにより上
述したように精製した。この構造をNMR分光分析法により確認した。これによ
り、2種類のジメチル異性体の混合物の存在が判明した(インドールのフェニル
環の位置4,5および5,6)。
実施例4:化合物(4)の合成
化合物4を実施例2と同様の方法で合成した。工程4において、実施例3にお
いて調製したインドリン誘導体および1−ニトロソ−2,7−ジヒドロキシナフ
タレンを用いた。次いで、得られた中間体を、炭酸カリウムの存在下でアセトン
中の硫酸ジメチルによりメチル化した。スピロキサジンをシリカのカラムクロマ
トグラフィーにより精製した。この構造をNMR分光分析法により確認した。
実施例5:化合物(5)の合成
この化合物を、出発生成物として、合成の工程1における2−ノルボルナノン
の代わりに樟脳を用いて、実施例1と同様の方法で合成した。
実施例6:化合物(6)の合成
この化合物を、出発生成物として、合成の工程1における3,4−ジメチルア
ニリンおよび樟脳を用いて、実施例1と同様の方法で合成した。
実施例7:化合物(7)の合成
この化合物を、合成の工程1における3,4−ジメチルアニリンの代わりに3
,5−ジメチルアニリンを用いて、以前の実施例と同様な方法で合成した。
実施例8:化合物(8)の合成
この化合物を、合成の工程3における3−メチル−2−ブタノンの代わりに3
