Description: FILM APPLICATION ASSEMBLY This invention relates to a film application assembly for use in medical applications, and more particularly, to a conformable thin film having an adhesive on one surface, the adhesive being applied to a patient. An assembly of this type having a film that is worn in place on the body. This compatible film has a number of medical uses, for example as a wound dressing or as a means of securing a medical device in place on a patient's body. Examples of this type of film include moisture permeable films “IT325”, “IT425” and “IT625” which are commercially available from Innovative Technologies Limited. The thinness and compatibility of such films make it very difficult, if not impossible, to apply them unsupported and satisfactorily to the patient's body. Also, such films tend to wrinkle and adhere to each other by the adhesive on the film. For this reason, this type of film has two support layers, namely, a releasable second carrier attached to the surface of the film to which the adhesive has been applied (second surface) and another surface of the film (first surface). In general, it is supplied while being interposed between the detachable first carriers. The first carrier, which can be peeled from the film, adheres more strongly to the film than in the case of the second carrier. To apply the film to the patient's body, the second carrier is first stripped and the film is supported wrinkle-free by the first carrier. Then, after the adhesive-carrying surface of the film is put in place on the patient's body, the film can be mounted by peeling off the first carrier. The first carrier can be deposited continuously on the film, but this is not desirable. The reason for this is that it is generally not possible to visually check through a transparent film whether the film has been correctly applied to the right place, for example a wound site. EP-A-0051935 (Applicant: Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing Company) discloses a film application assembly of the type described above. In this case, since the first carrier is disposed in the form of a quadrilateral frame on the outer peripheral portion of the film, a see-through portion of the film is formed at the center. However, this assembly suffers from the disadvantage that the peripheral frame reduces film edge conformity during film application. This difficulty is particularly disadvantageous when the film is adhered around an IV tube or the like or when the tube or the like is covered with a film. According to the present invention, there is provided (a) a conformable thin film having a first surface and a second surface, and (b) a peelable first carrier mounted on the first surface of the film, wherein the first carrier comprises the first carrier. A film application having two opposed grips on opposite sides of the first surface, the grips being integrated with a main pillar extending inward from an edge of the film between the grips. An assembly is provided. In the assembly according to the present invention, the film is held without wrinkles by the arrangement of the grip portion and the main pillar portion. Since the film edge extending parallel to the main pillar does not overlap with the carrier, its compatibility is not hindered by the second carrier. Preferably, the main pillar is disposed at the center thereof across the film. The main pillar portion is generally linear, but may have a non-linear intermediate member. This intermediate member may be, for example, in the form of a symbol such as a letter indicating the manufacturer / supplier of such a film application assembly. Preferably, the first carrier is an integral member including two separate grips and a main post. This allows the carrier to be removed as a member after the film has been applied to the patient's body. However, the carrier may be formed from two members, each having one grip and a main pillar. In such a case, the discontinuity of the main column of the carrier should be so small that substantially no gap is formed between adjacent ends of the main column. Preferably, the carrier is substantially H-shaped. The film is preferably substantially square or rectangular, in which case the grip extends completely or partially over the opposing perimeter of the film. It is convenient for the grip to partially overlap the periphery of the film. This is because a projection is formed between the fingers of the user of the film so that the gripper can be gripped. The second surface of the film is typically provided with an adhesive that can be used to apply the film to a patient's body. In this case, it is preferable that the second surface of the film is adhered to the second peelable carrier with a smaller force than the adhesive force of the first surface of the film to the first carrier. The releasable second carrier may have a single sheet. Alternatively, the carrier may be composed of two members, and each member may be divided into a cover part and a flap part by a fold line. In this case, the two members of the carrier cooperate to cover the entire area of the film, with the respective cover parts juxtaposed with the fold lines parallel to one another, and the flap part on the side of the carrier opposite the film. You may arrange | position in the aspect which is located. Each flap may be used to remove each carrier member from the film. The film is preferably a breathable film having a higher moisture permeability (MVTR) in the presence of water than that of a case using only water vapor. MVTR in the presence of water may be measured according to ASTM E96BW. On the other hand, the MVTR when only water vapor is present may be measured according to ASTM E96B (water method). Preferably, the value of the permeability in the presence of water is at least twice, more preferably at least 3 times, and even 10 to 20 times the value of the permeability in the presence of water vapor alone. In general, the material of this type of film has a MVTR measured in the presence of water vapor by ASTM E96B of 1000-5000 gm -2 24 hr -1 and an MVTR of ASTM E96BW in the presence of water. Is 3000 to 30000 gm -2 24 hr -1 (for example, 6000 to 10000 gm -2 24 hr -1 ). Typical thicknesses of such films are 20-70 microns, more preferably 30-50 microns, for example about 40 microns. The material of such a film may be, for example, polyurethane. Examples of suitable films include commercial products "B53-2", "C54-2" and "D56-2" manufactured by Innovative Technologies Limited. When applying the adhesive on the second surface of the film, the adhesive may be applied in a continuous or discontinuous manner so that the coverage is from the desired value to 100%. Preferred adhesives are hydroactive adhesives, most preferred are those which are applied as a continuous layer having a thickness of 20 microns and an MVTR of 15000 gm -2 24 hr -1 . It is preferred that the MVTR of the product be between 600,000 and 10,000 gm -2 24 hr -1 by using the adhesive and the film together. The water-active adhesive may be applied on the film as a continuous layer, and the amount of adhesion is preferably 2 to 40 g per m2 of the film. Alternatively, a pressure-sensitive adhesive may be adhered in a cross shape (coverage: 20 to 50%) so that the MVTR of the combined use of the adhesive and the film is 6000 to 10000 gm −2 24 hr −1 . Suitable adhesives include the commercial products "IT PSA HT" and "PSA LT" from Innovative Technologies Limited. An embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to the accompanying drawings. FIG. 1 is an exploded perspective view showing a first embodiment of a film application assembly according to the present invention. FIG. 2 is a plan view of the assembly shown in FIG. FIG. 3 is a sectional view of the assembly shown in FIG. 1 taken along the line III-III. FIG. 4 is an exploded perspective view showing a second embodiment of the film application assembly according to the present invention. In these figures, the film application assembly (1) comprises a conformable thin film (2) having a lower surface to which an adhesive (3) (see inset in FIG. 3) has been applied. The assembly further comprises a carrier (4) (eg, paper or card) bonded to an adhesive (3) and a substantially H-shaped carrier (5) (eg, paper or card). In this case, the H-shaped carrier (5) adheres to the upper surface of the film stronger than the adhesive force of the carrier (4) to the adhesive (3). As shown, the film (2) is a substantially rectangular shaped film having rounded corners. The carrier (4) has the same width as the film (2) but the overall length is longer than the film, and the shape of its end is substantially trapezoidal, extending beyond the width edge of the film (2). The form is such that a protrusion (4a) is formed. As mentioned above, the carrier (5) has a substantially H-shaped configuration and has two grips (6) connected by a main pillar (7). Each grip 6 overlaps the edge of the film 2 in the width direction, thereby forming a flap projection 6a that can be used to grip the grip. As shown, the protrusion (6a) of the carrier (5) extends beyond the protrusion (4a) of the carrier (4). To use the film, the carrier (4) is first removed. The carrier (5) and the supported film (2) are held by gripping the protrusion (6a) of the gripper (6). The adhesive-coated side of the film is placed in place on the patient's body, but this operation is easy because enough area is exposed on the transparent film to allow see-through of the target area of the patient's body. Becomes During this operation, the film is kept unwrinkled by the carrier (5), which is peeled off from the film after the film has been mounted and discarded. The film may be used as a wound dressing or may be used to attach a medical device to a patient's body. In the latter case, a notch (for example, a portion (8) indicated by a broken line) for attaching the film to the medical device may be provided. FIG. 4 shows another embodiment of the film application assembly according to the present invention. Since the assembly shown in FIG. 4 is similar in many respects to the assembly shown in FIG. 1, like parts in these figures are designated with like numbers. Only the differences between the two assemblies will be described. In the assembly shown in FIG. 4, the main pillar (17) has a non-linear intermediate portion (18) (generally shown as C-shaped), which is the manufacturer / supplier of the assembly. May be used as a means for displaying. Further, in the assembly shown in FIG. 4, two carrier members (20) are used instead of the single sheet carrier (4) shown in FIG. Each carrier member is divided by a fold line (21) into a cover part (22) and a flap part (23). The two cover parts (22) jointly cover the entire area of the film, and the fold lines (21) are juxtaposed in parallel. The two flaps (23) face each other, and these flaps may be folded flat against one of the covers (22) in the direction indicated by the arrows in the figure for the dressing package. Each carrier member (20) may be peeled from the film by gripping each flap (23) and pulling the corresponding carrier member.
