Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the terminal workability of a wire while facilitating the peeling work without degrading the strength of a sheath layer by providing the sheath layer for housing an insulated conductor with a slit for dividing the sheath layer into two layers in the thickness direction, and forming a tip thereof with a thin rippable part. SOLUTION: Three pairs of insulated conductors respectively formed of a conductor 5 and an insulator 6 are housed in a sheath layer 1 with an interposed material 7 so as to form a wire. A part of this sheath layer 1 in the circumferential direction is formed with a slit 2 from a surface so as to divide the sheath layer 1 into two layers in the thickness direction thereof. Furthermore, a tip of the slit 2 is made to bite into the sheath layer 1, and a thin part 3 having a thickness at a half or less of the thickness of the sheath layer 1 is formed in the sheath layer 2 so that it can be easily ripped by hands. With this structure, the thin part 3 is protected so as to prevent the degradation of the strength of the sheath layer 1, and in the case of the terminal work of the wire, the sheath layer 1 is easily ripped at the thin part 3 thereof so as to be peeled from inside, and the insulator 6 is eliminated so as to expose the conductor 5.

FIG. 5 is a cross-sectional view of a conventional electric wire having good terminal workability. 3 composed of a conductor 11 and an insulator 12
A set of insulated conductors together with an interposer 13 are housed by a sheath layer 14. A slit 15 is provided on the outer periphery of the sheath layer 14. The cross-sectional shape of the slit 15 has various shapes such as a rectangle and a triangle, and is provided continuously in the longitudinal direction of the electric wire. The shape and size of the cross section are determined by the thickness of the electric wire, the thickness of the sheath layer 14, and the like. In FIG. 5, the slit 15 having a triangular cross-section is

(1) The operation of peeling off the sheath layer for terminal processing is usually performed using a knife or a terminal processing machine, and the knife is used to cut a slit provided on the surface or inside of the sheath layer to cut the sheath layer. The work of stripping the layer is a work that requires skill because there is a possibility that the insulator inside the electric wire may be damaged. Therefore, the cost of terminal processing has been high.
