【特許請求の範囲】[Claims] 【請求項1】 用紙が積載される用紙積載台と、該用紙
積載台上の用紙の紙幅方向を規制する一対のサイドガイ
ドと、該サイドガイドを紙幅方向に案内するために、前
記用紙積載台上に設けた一対の長孔と、該長孔を挾んで
前記サイドガイドと一体となって紙幅方向に摺動し、か
つ対向する面にラックギヤ部を有する一対のスライダー
と、該スライダーのラックギヤ部間に介装されて噛合し
かつ前記スライダーを互いに相反する方向に摺動するピ
ニオンギヤと、該ピニオンギヤへ前記ラックギヤ部を噛
合させる方向に前記スライダーを付勢する付勢手段と、
用紙積載台に設けられてスライダーの付勢手段が摺動す
るガイド部材とを具備し、ガイド部材の付勢手段との摺
動面に、スライダーの付勢手段による付勢力を解放する
凹部が設けられている給紙装置において、前記ガイド部
材の凹部は、サイドフェンス同士が用紙の幅方向におい
て、最大離間位置又は最小離間位置に到達した際、スラ
イダーの付勢手段による付勢力を解放する位置に設けら
れていることを特徴とする給紙装置。
