Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a deodorant which is capable of effectively removing or decreasing the malodors and offensive odors formed in the metabolism within the human and animal bodies and in toilets, stock raising ranches and other environments. SOLUTION: The hydrophilic solvent extract (or its hydrolyzate) of Bear-berry (Arctostaphylos uva-ursi (L.) Sprengel) is used as the effective component of the deodorant. The hydrophilic solvent extract is prepd. by drying the leaves of the Bear-berry at need and extracting the pulverized leaves by a hydrophilic solvent. The hydrophilic solvent used for the extraction includes water, methanol, ethanol, isopropyl alcohol, acetone or their solvent mixture, etc., for which the water or the ethanol and/or water/ ethanol solvent mixture is more preferable as this solvent is not of a problem in case of remaining in order for use particularly for medical purposes or as food. Org. acid or sugar content may be previously added to the solvent. In such a case, the extraction of the component is more effectively executed. Citric acid, malic acid, acetic acid and ascorbic acid are preferable as the org. acid. The amt. of the addition thereof is adequately 0.05 to 2 wt.% of the weight of the solvent and is preferably so adjusted as to be kept within a range of pH3.0 to 5.0. Fructose, glucose, sucrose, maltose, etc., are usable as the sugar.

BEST MODE FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION The deodorant of the present invention comprises a hydrophilic solvent extract of awaluushi, a hydrolyzate of hydrophilic solvent extract of awaulushi, or a mixture thereof as an active ingredient. Metabolism in animals and in the body of animals, toilets, livestock ranches and other environments, can effectively remove or reduce odors and odors. Uwaurushi, also known as Bearberry, is native to mountainous regions in central Honshu, Japan, and cold regions and alpine mountains such as Hokkaido, Europe, Asia, the northern United States, and Canada. The hydrophilic solvent extract of the leaves has a slight dead leaf-like aroma and slight bitterness, presents a light brown to dark green brown color, contains arbutin, hydroquinone, tannins, gallic acid, etc., and is an aqueous extract. Has been reported to have antibacterial, antiviral, diuretic, and the like.

[0006] The hydrophilic solvent extract of eucalyptus used for the deodorant of the present invention is obtained by drying crushed awaulushi leaves and crushing the leaves with a hydrophilic solvent if necessary. Hydrophilic solvents used for extraction include water, methanol, ethanol, isopropyl alcohol, acetone,
Alternatively, a mixed solvent thereof and the like can be mentioned. In particular, water or ethanol or a mixed solvent of water / ethanol, which does not cause a problem even if it remains, is preferably used for medical or edible use. A mixed solvent with water is more preferable than extraction with an alcohol or acetone solvent alone. Extraction solvent is material 1
In general, it may be added 2 to 20 times (weight ratio). In the case of water, the extraction temperature and time are 60 to 100 ° C. for 5 minutes to 5 minutes.
A suitable time is preferably 30 minutes to 3 hours at 70-90 ° C, most preferably 30 minutes at 80 ° C.

[0007] Further, an organic acid or a sugar can be added to the solvent, and in this case, the components can be more effectively extracted. As the organic acid, citric acid, malic acid, acetic acid, and ascorbic acid are preferable. The amount added is
0.05 to 2% by weight is appropriate, and the pH is preferably adjusted to a range of 3.0 to 5.0. As sugar, fructose, glucose, sucrose, maltose and the like can be used. An appropriate amount of addition is 0.5 to 5% by weight. In this case, the effective component in the cell wall of the leaf can be more efficiently extracted by the osmotic pressure. Further, about 0.01 to 0.1% by weight of cellulase or amylase is added to water, and 25 ° C.
The reaction may be performed at 40 ° C. for 2 to 24 hours to decompose the cell wall or protein before extracting. Furthermore, once the leaves of the mulberry are frozen and thawed, the tissue (cell wall) is destroyed and the active ingredient can be efficiently extracted.
The extract obtained by further hydrolyzing the hydrophilic solvent extract of awaulushi with a hydrolase such as β-glucosidase, a mineral acid such as hydrochloric acid or sulfuric acid, or a strongly acidic organic acid (eg, malic acid or citric acid), It is preferable as an active ingredient of the deodorant of the present invention. Such a hydrolyzate can be obtained, for example, by adding β-glucosidase to a hydrophilic solvent extract of Pleurotus radishes from 0.01 to 0.01%.
It can be easily produced by adding 1% by weight and treating at 30 to 50 ° C. for 1 to 48 hours.

Test Example 1 A liquid (stock solution) obtained by diluting the extract of Production Example 1 200-fold with purified water, the pH of which was adjusted to 7.25 with 1N NaOH (adjusted liquid), and the extract was further concentrated at a predetermined concentration. The deodorizing effect on methyl mercaptan was measured using the following test method. [Test Method] 8 ml of the test solution was placed in a 155 ml vial. As a control, 8 ml of purified water was added. The vial is capped with a silicon stopper, sealed with an aluminum cap, and a methyl mercaptan standard solution (content: 1 μg / μl, benzene solution) manufactured by Wako Pure Chemical Industries, Ltd., with an initial concentration of methyl mercaptan of 8.4 ppm. Was added as follows. After stirring with a touch mixer for 20 seconds, 1 ml of air was injected with a gas tight syringe, 1 ml of the headspace was removed after pour-out, and subjected to gas chromatography. The peak area of methyl mercaptan in the gas chromatogram was measured to determine the methyl mercaptan concentration (ppm). Table 1 shows the results immediately after stirring, and after 15 minutes, 30 minutes and 60 minutes.
