Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ventilate air even in the case a knock type cover is swallowed by a baby from any directions and caught in its throat to avoid the danger of being choked or the like. SOLUTION: A metal knock type cover having the dimensions in the outer peripheral direction and the axial direction almost equal each other and fitted on the rear end of a refill case or the like of a mechanical pencil is provided with swelling sections 6 and 7 formed at least on the outer peripheral sections or both ends in the axial direction, and a recessed section 8 of a space of proper size is formed between the swelling section 6 and the swelling section 7, and air vents 5 communicating an opening section 2 fitted on the rear end of a refill case or the like with a rear end 3 are formed. Even when the knock type cover is swallowed, for instance, in the axis orthogonal direction, air ventilation is provided by the arrangement.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION 1. Field of the Invention The present invention relates to a knock cover having a ventilation hole fixed to a rear end of a mechanical pencil or the like.

2. Description of the Related Art Conventionally, many knock covers fastened to the rear end of a mechanical pencil lead case or the like are extremely short because the rear end is closed except for the insertion side (opening). However, accidents such as accidental swallowing of the knock cover by the infant, clogging his throat, and suffocation may occur. In addition, caps such as writing utensils have been proposed by various means so that even if an infant swallows them accidentally and clogs their throats, air is allowed to pass through to avoid dangers such as suffocation.

At present, caps (ventilation caps) having ventilation holes have been applied to various objects such as toys, cosmetics, medical containers and the like in addition to writing instruments. Most ordinary caps have a sufficiently long dimension in the axial direction with respect to the outer peripheral dimension, and the ventilation means are provided only in the axial direction. However, in some cases, the dimensions in the axial direction are almost the same as those in the outer periphery due to design. (Both the outer circumference and the axial dimension are 16 mm or less.) Specifically, a knock cover of a mechanical pencil is applicable. In order to achieve the above-mentioned object, a knock cover of a mechanical pencil according to the present invention is made of metal which is substantially equal in outer peripheral direction and axial direction and is fixed to a rear end of a lead case or the like. In the knock cover, the knock cover is provided with a full-circular bulge at least at outer peripheral portions at substantially both ends in the axial direction, and a concave portion of an appropriate space is formed between the bulge and the bulge. 1 and 2 show a first embodiment of the present invention. The knock cover 1 is a short-sized metal knock cover which has substantially the same dimensions in the outer peripheral direction and the axial direction and is fixed to the rear end of a core case or the like. In addition, the knock cover 1 is provided with bulging portions 6 and 7 which are all around the outer peripheral portions at substantially both ends in the axial direction, respectively.
A concave portion 8 of a space is appropriately formed between the bulging portions. A plurality of ventilation holes 5 are formed on the periphery of the bottomed portion 4 located at the center of the rear end 3.
Thereby, an air flow passage that passes from the opening 2 to the rear end 3 is formed. The knock cover 1 is formed by press working in the above configuration. Note that the means for forming the bulging portion and the concave portion can be performed by cutting.

FIGS. 3 and 4 show a second embodiment of the present invention. The knock cover 9 has a vent hole 12 formed in the center of a rear end portion 11. Others are the same as the first embodiment.

FIGS. 5 and 6 show a third embodiment of the present invention. In this knock cover 16, a bulging portion 22 on the opening 17 side is formed slightly behind the end face. This is basically the same as the first embodiment.

The structure of the present invention is as described above. In the event that the knock cover is swallowed in the axial direction, air can flow through the vent hole that has passed through the opening to the rear end. Further, when swallowed from the direction perpendicular to the axis, air can flow through the recess formed between the bulging portions.

The construction and operation of the present invention are as described above. Even if a small knock cover is accidentally swallowed by an infant and clogged in the throat, the knock cover remains in either the axial direction or the direction perpendicular to the axial direction. Even so, ventilation is possible, so that a crisis such as choking can be avoided.

[Claims] 1. A metal knock cover having dimensions substantially equal to the outer peripheral direction and the axial direction and fixed to a rear end of a mechanical pencil lead case or the like. Each part is provided with a full-circumferential bulge, and a concave part of an appropriate space is formed between the bulge and the bulge, and further from the opening to be fixed to the rear end of the core case or the like from the rear end. A knock cover for a mechanical pencil, characterized in that a vent hole communicating with the part is provided.
