Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a skew correcting mechanism in a device for carrying paper sheets and forms, capable of correcting a skew without accurately setting paper media, with improved function and operability. SOLUTION: This skew correction mechanism is provided with a screw roller 1 at the inside of a carrier passage. When correcting a skew using the screw roller 1 while carrying a paper medium 6, the rotating shaft of the screw roller 1 is laid in a parallel to the rotating shaft of carrier rollers 7, and a part of the screw roller 1 is configured so that its cross-section does not protrude from the carrier passage surface, that is, in such a way as to have a cut surface across the carrier passage surface. This arrangement allows the screw roller 1 to retreat from the carrier passage by the same rotating motion as that for skew correction. Further, stoppers 4 and a sensor 5 are provided to know that the medium 6 is placed in a correct position.
