Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve efficiency and industrial availability of connecting work by overlapping both of covering tension members in a state where a specific distance of arrangement pitches of their tension member element wires is slipped after integrally covering tension member parts of both end side terminal parts respectively by unvulcanized rubber. SOLUTION: A material of one side tension member element wire 4-2 and the other side tension member element wire 5-2 is a steel wire cord. A connecting part of a handrail exposes the one side and other side tension member element wires 4-2 and 5-2 to connect to each other by peeling an interface between a core body and decorative rubber of its both end parts. Thereafter, unvulcanized rubber is squeezed out around their circumference by a pressing machine or an unvulcanized rubber sheet is placed vertically, and it is applied by respectively pressing under unvulcanized rubber temperature. Thereafter, both of the unvulcanized rubber coating tension members of the both end side terminals parts are overlapped with each other in a state of slipping a distance of 1/2 of an arrangement pitch of the tension member element wires 4-2 and 5-2.

In the embodiment of the handrail connecting method according to the present invention shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, the tension members at both ends are cut at right angles to the buried longitudinal direction and connected. However, it may be cut diagonally, in which case there is an advantage that the stress concentration during practical use of the handrail operation can be dispersed.

According to the method for connecting a handrail of the present invention, even if the terminal portions on both ends are overlapped and connected, the tension member layer of the connection portion can be made horizontal and straight, and as a result, the thickness of the connection portion is reduced. It is industrially useful because there is no increase or unevenness and the connecting portion has a high tensile strength.
