Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To decorate the surface of a material to be worked through the creation of decorative characteristic by generating a knife mark with a specific width when the surface of the material is worked by rotary cutting. SOLUTION: Parameters are set which are the state, number and array of cutting blades, the shape and diameter of a cutting edge, blade length and also, cutting conditions such as the number of rotation and depth of cut of a rotary cutting tool, the feed speed of a material and its form, e.g. combination of decorative laminated monolayer or multilayer material. If the width Wa of a knife mark formed by cutting is 5mm or less, it is too fine to be recognized as a mark for decoration, and it is recognized as a mere knife mark. On the contrary, if the width is 150mm or more, the feed speed of the material is too high for the number of rotation of the cutting tool, so that there are difficulties in the working. Thus it is possible to numerously create a decorative pattern on the surface of the material.

2. Description of the Related Art When processing wood or processing similar to wood using a rotary cutting tool, knife marks as shown in FIG. 13A are generated more or less. Under normal business practices, it was considered unsightly and of reduced quality. For this reason, the work which removes a knife mark by performing finish cutting or sanding etc. after cutting is performed, and this is common. When finishing without removing the knife mark, a cutting condition is selected so that the knife mark width W (FIG. 13b) is at least 1 mm or less, and the knife mark is cut so as not to be conspicuous. Although there is no problem with the presence or absence of a knife mark in the cutting at the rough cutting stage in the middle of the processing step, the cutting conditions are set in consideration of the cutting resistance and the like in the thickness cutting of the workpiece. Even in this case, the knife mark is usually W = 5 mm or less.

In the finishing cutting, when the width of the knife mark is about 1 mm or more, the existence of the knife mark can be clearly confirmed, which is not preferable, although it depends on the kind of the workpiece. The concept is not decorative. The present invention has been made in view of such problems of the prior art, and actively uses the knife mark, which has been recognized as being undesirable and meaningless, by changing the viewpoint of the knife mark by 180 °. It is another object of the present invention to provide a decorating method for creating a decorative property on the surface of a workpiece by a rotary cutting tool.

If the width of the knife mark by cutting is 5 mm or less, it is too small and can be recognized only as a simple knife mark. If it is 150 mm or more, the material feeding speed is too high with respect to the rotation speed of the tool, and there is a problem in machining. A desirable width is 10 mm or more that can be recognized as a knife mark having a predetermined size, and 50 mm or less when the outline of a knife mark formed by rotary cutting is clear and not blurred.

The cutting edge diameters of the cutting blades are all the same. The plane cylinders 1A, 1B, 1C, and 1D pass, for example, pins in the axial direction so that the phases of the four-piece plane cylinders are not shifted by shifting the rotational mounting positions of the cutting blades adjacent to each other in the cutting area by 45 ° pitch. Alternatively, the adhesive is fixed to the rotating shaft of the plane machine. The plane cylinder set in this set is a rotary cutting tool for substantially cutting two blades. Of course, it is also possible to form a set in which four identical disk-shaped cutters are stacked and fixed with their phases shifted sequentially.

[Embodiment 6] A method of painting a cut surface of a decorated workpiece, a method of applying a thin transparent or translucent paint such as a varnish or a lacquer which does not erase a knife mark, or a method of applying a thin paint on a knife mark. Apply opaque paint to the surface. For example, an opaque paint is applied to the decoration processing surface of FIG. 2 so as to fill the depth d of the knife mark, and then the surface of the workpiece is smoothly cut or sanded, so that a stripe pattern as shown in FIG. 11 appears. In addition, the use of the colored paint can further enhance the stripe pattern. Of course, it is free to apply a transparent paint on the streaks. If the knife mark is cut smoothly, an orderly and regular pattern will be obtained, but if it is not cut and sanded smoothly, an irregular and interesting pattern will appear again. Further, an opaque paint is applied to the surface of the knife mark shown in FIG. 8 and a portion where the ridge line intersects is smoothly cut or sanded.
The cross star pattern shown in Fig. 2 appears in an orderly manner.
