More particularly, the present invention relates to gelling agents and hair fixation / conditioning having improved "in-use" and "on-hair" feel in addition to ease of handling and style retention effects The present invention relates to a hair cosmetic composition containing a polymer. BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION There is a widespread desire to keep hair in a particular shape. A common way to do this is to apply a hair styling or "setting" composition to the hair, typically wet or dry hair. These compositions exhibit a temporary setting effect and should be removed with water and / or shampoo. The substances used in the compositions to show the setting effect are usually applied in the form of a mousse, gel, lotion or spray. High levels of style retention or maintenance are typically expected from hair compositions, even when applied as gels or sprays. Style retention in gel products is typically achieved by the use of one or more hair fixative polymers such as polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) and copolymers of PVP and vinyl acetate (PVP / VA) in combination with a gelling agent. Will be A commonly used gelling agent is crosslinked polyacrylic acid, known under the CTFA name of carbomer. When such polymers are incorporated into hair fixative compositions containing conventional gelling agents, they can exert a suitable style-retaining effect. However, such compositions may give the hair and hands a sticky feel during and after application, leaving a gritty and unnatural hair feel. It has been found that certain combinations of gelling agents and hair fixative polymers can exert excellent styling effects without the sticky and stiff feel normally associated with conventional styling gels. This provides effective style retention, imparts a hair conditioning effect, has non-greasy hair and on-hand feel, is easily brushed, is flake resistant, and is at the same time stable product and viscosity characteristics There is a need for a hair styling composition that has sufficient stability under long-term, stressful temperature storage. According to one aspect of the subject matter invention the invention, (a) C 4 -C 16 methyl vinyl ether / maleic anhydride crosslinked with alkadiene or gelling agent from about 0.01 to about 3 weight comprising a copolymer of the hydrolysis products (B) from about 0.1 to about 10% by weight of a hair fixative polymer comprising a cationic copolymer of nonionic cellulose and diallyldimethylammonium chloride; and (c) a balance comprising a carrier suitable for application to hair. A hair cosmetic composition comprising: The essential and optional components of the present invention are described below. All levels and ratios are on a weight basis unless otherwise indicated. Gelling agents The compositions of the present invention comprise from about 0.01 to about 3% by weight, preferably from about 0.05 to about 2%, more preferably from about 0.5 to about 1.5%, and most preferably about 0 to about 1.5%. It contains from 0.6 to about 1% of a gelling agent. It is this gelling agent that, when combined with a cationic hair fixative polymer, imparts a hair setting and conditioning effect without the sticky dry hair feeling and on-hand stickiness normally associated with hair styling cosmetics. Gelling agents suitable for use in the present invention are methyl vinyl ether / maleic anhydride and its hydrolysis products cross-linked with C 4 -C 16 , preferably C 6 -C 12 , more preferably C 8 -C 10 alkadienes Consisting of a copolymer of The gelling agent typically has a viscosity ranging from about 50,000 to about 150,000 cps), preferably from about 70,000 to about 100,000 cps (0.5% gelling agent in a non-alcoholic solution at pH 7). (Brookfield RVT, Spindle TE, 10 rpm). In its broadest aspect, the copolymers utilized in this application are methyl cross-linked with C 4 -C 16 , preferably C 6 -C 12 , more preferably C 8 -C 10 alkadienes (hereinafter B). Consists of a copolymer of vinyl ether / maleic anhydride (hereinafter A). Examples of suitable polymers and their preparation are described in detail in "Polymers and Thickeners", Vol. 108, May 1993, p61-67, SL Kopolow, YTKwak and M. Helioff. These polymers consist of parts A and B as described above. In preferred embodiments, B is C 6 -C 14 alkadienes, more preferably C 6 -C 12 alkadienes, more preferably consists of C 8 -C 10 alkadiene. A preferred gelling agent for use in the present invention is 1,9-decadiene cross-linked methyl vinyl ether / maleic anhydride (PVM / MA decadiene cross-linked polymer) commercially available from ISP as Stabileze 06 (RTM). The hair gelling agent of the present invention is preferably utilized in at least a partially neutralized form in order to obtain the required gel structure and overall pH of the hair cosmetic composition. The gelling agent can be neutralized with a base to a level of about 30 to about 100%, preferably about 40 to about 98%, more preferably about 50 to about 95%. Any commonly used organic or inorganic base is used for neutralizing the acidic gelling agent. Alkali and alkaline earth metal hydroxides and amino alcohols are suitable neutralizing agents for use in the present hair cosmetic compositions. Examples of suitable organic neutralizing agents included in the hair cosmetic compositions of the present invention include amines, especially 2-amino-2-methyl-1,3-propanediol (AMPD), 2-amino-2-ethyl -1,3-propanediol (AEPD), 2-amino-2-methyl-1-propanol (AMP), 2-amino-1-butanol (AB), monoethanolamine (MEA), diethanolamine (DEA), triethanol Amino alcohols such as amines (TE A), monoisopropanolamine (MIPA), diisopropanolamine (DIPA), triisopropanolamine (TIPA), dimethylsteramine (DMS), aminomethylpropanol (AMP) and mixtures thereof is there. Preferred neutralizing agents for use in the compositions of the present invention are potassium and sodium hydroxide, aminomethylpropanol (AMP), triethanolamine (TEA) and mixtures thereof. In addition to the particular gelling agent as described above, such compositions optionally contain about 0.01 to about 1% by weight, preferably about 0.1 to about 0.5%, of an auxiliary gelling agent. May do it. Suitable auxiliary gelling agents can be selected from any conventional gelling agents, such as cross-linked polyacrylic acid copolymers, ethylene maleic anhydride copolymers or hydroxyethylcellulose and its derivatives. A preferred auxiliary gelling agent for use in the present invention is hydroxyethyl cellulose. Carrier The hair cosmetic composition of the present invention also contains an aqueous or non-aqueous carrier and a mixture thereof. These include all those commonly used in polymer-containing hair cosmetic formulations. The carrier is usually present in the hair cosmetic composition at about 70 to about 99.89% by weight, preferably about 78 to about 99.5%. More preferably, the carrier is present at about 80 to about 99% by weight of the total composition. Organic solvents suitable for use as carriers in the compositions according to the present compositions include C 1 -C 6 alkanols, carbitols, acetone and mixtures thereof. Preferred C 1 -C 6 alkanols for use in the present compositions are C 2 -C 4 monohydric alcohols such as ethanol, isopropanol and mixtures thereof. Preferred hair compositions according to the present invention contain 70 to about 99.89% by weight of water as a carrier, preferably 78 to about 99.5%, more preferably about 80 to about 99%. In addition to the cationic hair fixative polymer gelling agent, the composition according to the invention contains a hair fixative polymer as a second essential component. The hair fixative polymer is preferably dissolved or colloidally dispersed in the hair cosmetic carrier together with the gelling agent copolymer. A preferred hair fixative polymer component of the hair cosmetic composition of the present invention is known as Polyquaternium 4 under the CTFA name and is available from National Starch and Chemical Ltd. Consists of a cationic copolymer of hydroxyethylcellulose and diallyldimethylammonium chloride, sold under the trade names Celquat L200 (RTM) and Celquat H100 (RTM). The hair fixative polymer comprises from about 0.1 to about 10% by weight of the composition, preferably from about 0.3 to about 8%, more preferably from about 0.5 to about 6%, most preferably from about 0.8 to about 6%. It is present in an amount of 3%. In the composition according to the present invention, the weight ratio of gelling agent to hair fixative polymer ranges from about 10: 1 to about 1:10. Other hair fixative polymers suitable for use in the present invention together with the above substances include any polymer that can be dissolved or colloidally dispersed in a hair cosmetic carrier. Solubility and dispersity are measured under environmental conditions of temperature and pressure (25 ° C. and 1 Atm). Such copolymers may be cationic or nonionic in nature. Copolymers suitable for use in the present invention include from about 1000 to about 5,000,000, preferably from about 50,000 to about 4,000,000, more preferably from about 100,000 to about 3,000,000.
