Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automate entry of characters and numerals to an information device such as a computer by providing an optical character reader, an electronic circuit that processes read data, a data display device and a data output section to a pen type scanner. SOLUTION: An optical character reader 1 is equipped at the tip of a pen type scanner and an electronic circuit 2 processing read data is provided in the inside of the scanner. A data display section and a data output section 4 are provided to the pen type scanner. Characters and numerals to be entered to an information device such as a computer are scanned by using the scanner. Scanned data are discriminated and stored by the internal electronic circuit 2 and the result is displayed on the data display section 3. The data are directly sent to the information device such as a computer from the data output section 4. Plural character and numerals are stored by increasing a storage capacity of the internal electronic circuit 2. The data output section 4 is provided with a transmitter for infrared ray, ultrasonic wave or radio wave in the case of adopting a radio system and with a connection terminal to an input section of the information device in the case of adopting a wired system.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION 1. Field of the Invention The present invention relates to a scanner for automatically inputting characters and numerals to information devices such as a computer.

2. Description of the Related Art Conventionally, information devices such as computers have been used to input characters, numbers, and the like using a keyboard or the like. In addition, there were many input errors and the like, resulting in poor workability.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION An object of the present invention is to provide a scanner which solves the above-mentioned problems and which automates the input of characters and numerals to information equipment such as a computer.

In order to achieve the above object, the present invention provides an optical character reader at the tip of a pen-type scanner, an electronic circuit for processing data read inside, and a main body of the pen-type scanner. And a data display unit and a data output unit.

By using the scanner of the present invention, when using an information device such as a computer, it is possible to easily input characters and numerals without using a keyboard.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS Referring to the drawings, an optical character reader 1 is provided at the tip of a pen-type scanner. An electronic circuit 2 for processing read data is provided inside a pen-type scanner. The data display unit 3 is provided in a pen-type scanner. The data output unit 4 is provided in a pen type scanner. Since the present invention has the above-described structure, first, characters and numerals to be input to an information device such as a computer are scanned using the structure. The scanned data is read and stored by an internal electronic circuit, and the result is displayed on a data display unit.
Then, the data is directly transmitted from the output unit to an information device such as a computer. Note that a plurality of characters and numbers can be stored by increasing the storage capacity of the internal electronic circuit. The data output unit is provided with a transmission device for transmitting infrared rays, ultrasonic waves, radio waves, or the like when wireless is used, and a connection terminal to an input unit of an information device such as a computer when wired.

Equipped with a data display unit in a pen type scanner. Equipped with a data output unit in a nipen type scanner. A scanner configured to automate the input of characters and numbers to information devices such as computers configured as described above.
