Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To miniaturize a contact and form a high density connector by increasing displacement amount of a resilient tongue piece by forming paging tapered extension part at the tip part of the resilient tongue piece of a female type terminal and making the external surface of the tip part of the resilient tongue piece displaced when a male type terminal is inserted parallel to the internal wall of a female type terminal insertion window. SOLUTION: Within a female type terminal insertion window 11a of a female type connector housing 11 provided with a male terminal insertion port 11 having a tapered part 11e, a bifoliate female type terminal 21 having a resilient tongue piece 31 is inserted and restrained. A bar-shaped male type terminal 23 is inserted from the male type terminal insertion port 11c, the terminal 23 is fitted into the resilient tongue piece 31 and the terminal 23 is connected with the female type terminal 21. In this contact, chamfered tapered extension part 31a is formed at the tip part of the resilient tongue piece 31, the tip external surface 31b is made parallel to the internal wall 11b of the female type terminal insertion window 11a by taking a bending angle into consideration when the resilient tongue piece 31 displaces in the direction perpendicular to the inserting direction when the male type terminal is inserted. Thus a width G' of the receiving part of the male and terminal of the resilient tongue piece 31 can be expanded.

The first problem in the prior art is that when the male terminal 71 is inserted into the female terminal insertion window 11a, the elastic tongue 7 of the female terminal 73 is attached to the male terminal 71.
2 are in contact with each other and the outer end portion 72a of the elastic tongue 72 protrudes, so that it easily interferes with the inner wall 11b of the female terminal insertion window of the connector housing 11, and the width of the female terminal insertion window 11b during the connector designing stage. W 2 must be designed widely taking into account the displacement of the elastic tongue piece 72 is that.

The second problem is that when the male terminal 71 is inserted through the inner wall 11d of the male terminal insertion opening 11c of the connector housing 11, the male terminal 71 is connected to the pair of elastic tongues 7a.
It must be securely received by the male terminal socket between the two ends of the two. In the case where the depth dimension of the male terminal insertion opening 11c is shortened for the purpose of downsizing the connector, or the insertion position of the elastic tongue piece 72 is set shallow in order to obtain an electrical connection sequence, a conventional example is used. In the above, when the male terminal 71 and the female terminal 73 are fitted together, the allowable swing amount at the tip of the male terminal 71 increases, so that the predetermined range of the width W 2 of the female terminal insertion window 11b is set. The width G of the male terminal of the female terminal 73 must be designed to be wide. The reason is that the elastic tongue 7
2 is bent in a U-shape, and the outer end 72 a of the elastic tongue 72 protrudes in the direction perpendicular to the insertion direction of the male terminal 71.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION The present invention has been made in view of the above circumstances in the prior art, and has as its object to insert a female terminal of a connector housing even if the tip of an elastic tongue is displaced by a male terminal. Even if the inner wall of the window does not interfere with the outer surface of the tip of the elastic tongue, and the amount of deflection of the tip of the male terminal is larger than before, the male terminal is securely received by the male terminal receptacle of the female terminal. A contact having a female terminal capable of fitting with a male terminal and a high-density connector using the same.

According to a first aspect of the present invention, there is provided a pair of elastic tongue pieces each having a distal end which is in contact with a male rod-shaped terminal. A tubular portion integrally connected to the piece, and a columnar L-shaped terminal for connecting a printed circuit board integrally connected to the tubular portion at an end opposite to a tip end of the elastic tongue; A female terminal insertion port having a tapered inlet and a male terminal insertion port located opposite to the male terminal insertion port and having a larger opening width than the male terminal insertion port. In the contact which is inserted and locked in the female terminal insertion window in the female connector housing made of an insulator having the following features, the rod-shaped male terminal is attached to the pair of elastic tongue pieces of the bilobal female terminal. By inserting and fitting, the elastic tongue piece is When displaced in a direction substantially perpendicular to the insertion direction, the outer surface of the distal end of the elastic tongue is parallel to the inner wall of the female terminal insertion window at an angle taking into account the bending angle of the elastic tongue. A false taper extension is formed at the tip of the elastic tongue.

In the case of a high-density connector, the width W of the female terminal insertion window 11b of the connector housing 11 is W.
2 , W 2 ′ must be smaller. Therefore, as in the present invention, the taper angle of the facing tapered extension 31a of the elastic tongue piece 31 is θ 0 = 1.12. W 2 ′ is W 2 ′ = 2.34 mm, and the pitch of the connector terminals can be reduced by W 2 −W 2 = 0.44 mm (a 16% reduction from the conventional one). A higher density connector can be realized.

The conventional male terminal 71 and female terminal 73
Referring to FIGS. 5 to 7 showing the state of fitting with the elastic tongue piece 72, when the connector is downsized, it is desired to make the depth dimension C of the male terminal insertion opening 11c as small as possible. However, the allowable deflection of the male terminal 71 is defined by the depth dimension X excluding the tapered portion 11e of the male terminal insertion window 11c. With respect to the swing width of the terminal 71, the width G of the male terminal receptacle of the female terminal 72 must satisfy the following expression.

Further, the correlation equation with the dimension X is: In FIG. 5, when it is desired to further reduce the length A of the connector housing 11 in order to reduce the size of the connector, the depth dimension C of the male terminal insertion port 11c is reduced, that is, the male terminal insertion port 11c. Taper part 1
Although it is conceivable to design the depth dimension X excluding 1e to be small, as a result, the amount of deflection of the male terminal 71 increases, and in the conventional design, the male terminal 71 is formed by the male terminal receiving hole of the female terminal 73. It cannot be caught. That is, it can be said that the dimension X in the dimensional relationship where the equal sign is satisfied in the above equation (5) is the minimum.

As described above, according to the present invention, the resilient tongue is formed with a tapered extension at the front end thereof, and the resilient tongue is displaced at the outer side of the front end without interfering with the inner wall of the connector housing. The amount can be increased and the width of the male terminal receptacle of the female terminal can be increased without changing the contact position, so that the allowable value of the maximum deflection of the male terminal tip can be increased. This has the following excellent effects. (1) The displacement amount of the elastic tongue can be increased by the above-mentioned method without changing the width of the inner wall of the connector housing. As a result, when designing a high-density connector, the width of the inner wall of the connector housing generally tends to be smaller. However, the width of the inner wall of the connector housing can be reduced while the displacement amount of the elastic tongue is made larger than before, and the spring Design and connector housing design are facilitated. (2) When the displacement amount of the elastic tongue is increased by the above-described method, it can be performed without shortening the length of the male terminal receiving portion at the tip of the elastic tongue. As a result, the fitting conditions when inserting the male terminal are not stricter than before,
Higher density connectors can be easily designed.
