【実施例】以下、図示実施例について本発明を説明する
と、図1において1はディーゼルエンジンの排気バルブ
である。この排気バルブ1は図示しないシリンダに摺動
自在に嵌合させてあり、かつ、排気バルブ1の上端は図
示しないシリンダブロックの上方まで突出させてロッカ
ーアーム2の先端部に当接させている。ロッカーアーム
2の先端部とシリンダブロックの上面とにわたっては圧
縮ばね3を弾装してあり、これにより、ロッカーアーム
2の先端部は常時上方にむけて付勢されている。ロッカ
ーアーム2の他端には、調整ねじ5を下方側から螺合貫
通させてあり、この調整ねじ5における上端に締め付け
ナット6を螺合させている。調整ねじ5の下端部には円
形の凹部を形成してあり、そこにプッシュロッド7の上
端部を当接させている。他方、プッシュロッド7の下端
部は、概略カップ状に形成したタペット8の内方部に当
接させている。タペット8における最下部は平坦な摺接
面8Aとしてあり、この摺接面8Aは、その下方側で回
転されるカム11と摺接している。このカム11が回転
することにより、タペット8とプッシュロッド7が昇降
され、それによってロッカアーム2が揺動して排気バル
ブ1が所定のストロークで昇降されるようになってい
る。なお、上記ナット6を緩めてから調整ねじ5を所要
量だけ回転させることにより、排気バルブ1の昇降スト
ローク量を微調整できるようになっている。しかして、
本実施例のタペット8は図2に拡大して示すように、カ
ップ状とした鋼製の本体部8Bを備えており、この本体
部8Bの底部に底が浅い円形の凹部8aを形成してい
る。そして、この凹部8aに円板状部材12を嵌合して
あり、本体部8Bの本来の底部よりも円板状部材12の
底面の方が僅かに下方側に露出した状態となっている。

坦な底面を摺接面8Aとしている。上記凹部8aには事

鋼のCrの含有量を5〜25wt%に設定すると、凝着
防止の上で好ましい。本実施例のタペット8は上述のよ
うに構成しているので、カム11と摺接する摺接面8A
の摩擦抵抗を減少させることができる。しかも摺接面8
Aは窒化処理されているので、従来に比較して焼付きが
起こりにくくなっており、したがって、従来に比較して
タペット8の耐焼付き性を大幅に向上させることができ
る。さらに、上述したように摺接面8Aを形成した円板
状部材12は、凹部内で円周方向に相対回転することが
できる。なお、上記実施例のタペット8は円板状部材1
2を本体部8Bの凹部8aに嵌合し円板状部材12が本
体部8Bに対して円周方向に相対回転できるように構成
しているが、円板状部材12を凹部8aに嵌着して固定
するようにしても良い。また、上記実施例のタペット8
は、円板状部材12と本体部8Bとの2部材で構成して
いるが、円板状部材12と同一の材料によって全体を単
一の部材で構成しても良い。その場合には、摺接面8A
に上記実施例と同様に窒化処理することは勿論である。
