エアバッグを上記窓周辺部に折り畳み収納したものであ
り、エアバッグの縁部に所要たるみを形成して固定した
ことから、窓周辺部が固定部間で湾曲している場合で
も、この固定部間でエアバッグが対角線状に突っ張るこ
とがなく、上記窓周辺部に簡単に収納することができ、
また折り畳み方法の自由度も増大せしめるとの顕著な効
果を奏するものである。また、本発明第2の側部用エア
バッグ装置は、窓周辺部の湾曲部を跨ぐエアバッグの固
定部間で、この固定部間を対角線状に結ぶエアバッグの
長さがこの固定部間の窓周辺部の長さと同等以上になる
ように、エアバッグの上記湾曲部に対応する部分の角度
をこの窓周辺部の湾曲部の角度より所要大きく形成し、
このエアバッグの縁部を上記窓周辺部に固定すると共
に、この窓周辺部に折り畳み収納したものであり、窓周
辺部の湾曲部に対応するエアバッグの角部の角度を大き
く形成することにより、エアバッグの縁部を上記窓周辺
部に固定したときに、湾曲部を跨ぐ固定部間でエアバッ
グが対角線状にたるみを形成することになり、これによ
り対角線での突っ張りをなくし、窓周辺部への収納を簡
単にすると共に、折り畳み方法の自由度も増すとの顕著
な効果を奏するものである。そしてさらに、膨張した際
にエアバッグは、膨張前の平面的な形状からマット状の
立体的な形状となるために平面的に見ると収縮したよう
な状態となるが、このときエアバッグをたるみのない状
態で固定していると、ひきつりが生じ、エアバッグが湾
曲して膨張するが、上記本発明第1、第2の各エアバッ
グ装置では、上記ひきつりをエアバッグのたるみが消費
してエアバッグを所定の形状に膨張させることが可能で
ある。
