Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the occurrence of defectives resulting from the mounting error of an electric connector by forming projecting and recessed parts on one of the pair of outer surfaces of an insulating housing extended parallel to the aligning direction of contact mounting holes. SOLUTION: Marker grooves 7 which are projecting and recessed parts are formed on one 1c of the outer surfaces of an insulating housing 1A, the grooves 7 extending in the direction of insertion of the connecting end 2a of a flexible printed board 2A. The grooves 7 are provided only on the outer surface 1c in order to discriminate between the front and back of the housing 1A, and not on the other outer surface 1d. Thus, since the plurality of grooves 7 are formed in the entire outer surface 1c of the housing 1A, the front and back of an electric connector can be distinguished one from the other at the first sight of the housing 1A. Therefore when the electric connector is mounted on the surface of the printed board 6A, whether or not the mounting position of the connector is correct can easily be determined visually, whereby the occurrence of defects due to the error of discriminating between the front and rear of the connector can be surely prevented.
