Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for the antibacterial deodorizing treatment of a textile fabric, enabling easy treatment of the fabric at a low cost without exerting adverse influence on the product, giving a treated product having excellent safety and heat-resistance and effective also for the elimination of ill odor of non-bacterial origin. SOLUTION: A slurry is prepared by dispersing a photocatalyst or a noble metal-supporting photocatalyst in water or an organic solvent. The photocatalyst is e.g. titanium dioxide and the noble metal is e.g. platinum. The concentration of the photocatalyst, etc., in the slurry is 0.0005-5wt.%. The slurry is brought into contact with a textile fabric to cause the deposition of the photocatalyst, etc., on the fiber surface. The contact is carried out by immersing the fabric in the slurry, coating the fabric with the slurry or compounding the photocatalyst, etc., together with a detergent to water or an organic solvent in the washing or rinsing of the fabric. The textile fabric is imparted with antibacterial property and deodorizing property by the action of the photocatalyst, etc., attached to the fiber.

However, the conventional antibacterial agent and the antibacterial treatment method using the same have the following problems. First, the organic antibacterial agent has toxicity and skin irritation and thus has a problem in safety. In addition, the organic antibacterial agent has a problem in that various kinds of resin processing are required to adhere to the fiber material, the antibacterial treatment is complicated, and the texture of the fiber material is changed by the resin processing. Further, the organic antibacterial agent and the resin for this adhesion are weak to heat, and are heated by, for example, an iron (maximum temperature of about 20
There is a problem that it decomposes at 0 ° C. and the antibacterial property disappears. The organic antibacterial agent is expensive and has a problem in that the usable range is limited. On the other hand, the conventional inorganic antibacterial agents do not have sufficient antibacterial properties, and the coloring of the fiber cloth by ions also poses a problem.

The present inventors have conducted a series of studies in order to solve the above problems. In the process, I got the idea of applying a photocatalyst such as titanium dioxide to the antibacterial and deodorant treatment of fiber cloth. Based on this idea, research was continued to develop a technique for applying a photocatalyst to a fiber cloth, and the photocatalyst and a photocatalyst carrying a noble metal were attached to the fiber cloth by contacting them with a method such as dipping in a slurry state. It has been found that when this is done, an excellent antibacterial and deodorant effect is exhibited. It was also found that photocatalysts and the like have no toxicity and skin irritation and are highly safe, have high heat resistance, and do not lose their effect even at ironing temperatures. And the photocatalyst etc.
The inventors have found that the fiber cloth does not have an adverse effect such as feeling and coloring, and arrived at the present invention. The antibacterial and deodorant agent for fiber cloth of the present invention allows the fiber cloth to be easily subjected to the antibacterial and deodorant treatment at low cost without any influence, and the safety of the obtained fiber cloth does not have any problem.

Next, the present invention will be specifically described. First, the action mechanism of the photocatalyst according to the present invention will be described. When a photocatalyst such as titanium oxide is irradiated with ultraviolet rays or exposed to ultraviolet rays in visible rays, electrons become excited, which causes active radicals such as hydroxy radicals having a very strong oxidizing action (eg, .OH, .O.
OH, · O 2 -, etc.) is generated efficiently. It is presumed that the active oxygen reacts with various fungi on the fiber cloth and an organic substance that causes a bad odor to oxidize and decompose, thereby exhibiting an antibacterial and deodorant effect. Therefore, the antibacterial and deodorant treatment agent for fiber fabric and the treatment method of the present invention can impart antibacterial property and deodorant property to the fiber fabric without being limited to the type of microorganisms or the type of living malodor.
