Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject ink capable of imparting an antibacterial property capable of preventing the growth of bacteria by a printing treatment of articles such as the paper of papered sliding doors by kneading a main ink with a specific particulate material. SOLUTION: This antibacterial ink is obtained by kneading a main ink with the particles of water-soluble glass containing a monovalent silver compound in the composition. The ink is printed on a substrate comprising a synthetic resin, etc., and subsequently brought into contact with water or steam. Thereby, the water-soluble glass is dissolved to release silver cations. The water-soluble glass is produced e.g. by homogeneously mixing 100 pts.wt of a mixture comprising 40.0mol% of SiO2 , 50.0mol% of B2 O3 and 10.0mol% of Na2 O with a monovalent silver compound in an amount of 2.0 pts.wt. (converted into Ag2 O), melting the mixture at 1100-1300 deg.C for 60min, quenching the mixture and subsequently selecting 200 mesh particles from the crushed product.

Means for Solving the Problems, Actions and Effects The antibacterial ink for printing of the present invention is mainly composed of a water-soluble glass powder or granule containing monovalent Ag in its composition as a means for solving the above problems. It is made by kneading into ink, and after being printed on a substrate such as paper, cloth, synthetic resin, etc., it is made to elute positive Ag ions while dissolving the water-soluble glass by contact with water or steam. Therefore, the water-soluble glass containing monovalent Ag used in the present invention is disclosed in JP-B-5-5.
SiO 2 55-80, which is the same as that used for the “water-soluble glass water treatment agent” disclosed in Japanese Patent No. 3733.

[0005] SiO 2 is a network-forming oxide, produce bactericidal action eluted positive Ag ions from the water adheres with its network structure unit Ag 2 O, Na 2 O
It is intended to guarantee the water-soluble role and glass incorporating Ag 2 O at a network modifying oxide in the glass, also, Al 2
O 3 has a function of incorporating a large amount of Ag 2 O into the glass network structure and serves to mitigate the deliquescent property of the glass.

[Table 4] 4 Summary Regarding the test pieces 1-B, 1-C, and 1-D, mold growth was not observed on the test pieces, and halo formation was recognized. In the test piece 1-A, mold grew on the entire surface of the test piece.
(-> No mold proof) Specimens 2-C and 2-D showed good mold proof.
(Especially, the test piece D is not recognized for mold growth) The test piece 2-B is inferior to the test pieces 2-C and 2-D in antifungal performance. In the test piece 2-A, mold grew on the entire surface of the test piece.
(→ No antifungal property) From the above test results, the antibacterial property of the antibacterial ink for printing of the present invention was confirmed. The present invention can also be applied to other printing inks such as gravure printing inks and offset printing inks. When food packaging paper is printed with the ink of the present invention, food corrosion can be suppressed.
