62号公報の第1図にフェース溝の一部を傾斜させてフ
ック、スライスを矯正するヘッドが開示されている。さ
らに、特開平7−313639号公報の図1等にフェー
ス面に放射状にフェース溝を設け、フェース面とゴルフ
ボールとの間に水膜が形成されるのを防止するヘッド、
特開平8ー777号公報の図1等にフェース面にスイー
トスポットを中心とした多角形状のフェース溝を同芯円

0.5mm、その中心間の長さCは2.5〜4.5mm
に形成されている。尚、図中11は前記ヘッド1の表面に
処理した鍍金層であり、また12は前記鍍金層10のうちフ
ェース面3における一点鎖線で示した内側に形成され鍍

示すように、ヘッド本体1Aの表面をバフ17を用いて研
磨し表面を仕上げる。この研磨加工時には研磨材(図示
せず)をバフ17に付着させてバフ17をモータ(図示せ
ず)により回転させて研磨する。尚、研磨材(図示せ
ず)をフェース面3に設けてバフ17により研磨するよう
にしてもよい。この研磨加工の際には前記切削跡14,15
が残るように行い、前記小溝9,10を形成する。そして
図7の第5工程に示すように表面を鍍金して鍍金層10を
形成し、この後、フェース面3の中央に砂18をショット
するサンドブラスト処理を施して粗面12を形成してヘッ
ド1を製作する。尚、前記バフ17としては布バフ、はけ
バフ、ワイヤーバフ、フェルトバフの他に研磨材が直接
