Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently produce an iodine-attached antimicrobial fiber excellent in washing resistance and useful for a medical product, a food, a consumer product, etc., by treating an amino group-containing fiber or brush of wool, silk, nylon, etc., with iodine or a polyiodide ion (triiodide ion or pentaiodide ion). SOLUTION: For example, a white colored fiber of wool, silk, nylon, etc., is dipped in an aqueous solution of a polyiodide ion of 500ppm in terms of effective iodine at ordinary temperature for 5min, subsequently washed with water, dehydrated and dried to obtain the objective iodine-attached antimicrobial fiber. Further, the antimicrobial fiber is colored in from yellow to brown attributable to iodide.

2. Description of the Related Art Conventionally, an antibacterial fiber requires a complicated process such as kneading an antibacterial zeolite into the fiber or introducing an ion exchange group into the fiber and causing a quaternary ammonium salt to act. Iodine is an excellent fungicide, as is known for tincture of iodine, but is widely used in liquids.

Conventionally, there have been various problems in the production of antibacterial fibers, such as a method of mixing chemicals at the stage of raw yarn production or a method of post-processing and fixing the chemicals. However, in the present invention, the antibacterial fiber can be easily produced by adding iodine.

According to the present invention, an antibacterial fiber can be easily prepared by immersing a fiber (hair, silk, nylon) currently on the market in an aqueous solution containing iodine or polyiodine ion. Since iodine is added to the amine group, the antibacterial property is effectively maintained, but when the antibacterial fiber is used, iodine is gradually lost and the effect is reduced.
It can be used any number of times by immersing it in an iodine or polyiodine ion aqueous solution, and the antibacterial action can be confirmed by checking the presence or absence of iodine by observing the iodine color of the fiber.

Example 1 White wool, silk, and nylon fibers were added to a polyiodine ion aqueous solution containing 500 ppm of available iodine at room temperature for 5 times.
It was dipped for a minute, washed with water, dehydrated, and dried. Each fiber was yellow to brown with an iodine color. N for each colored fiber
When a / 10 normal sodium thiosulfate aqueous solution was dropped, only the dropped portion became white. When an aqueous starch solution was sprinkled on the colored portion, the color changed to bluish purple and an iodine starch reaction occurred.

From the above results, it was found that commercially available fibers containing amine groups such as wool, silk and nylon still have iodine added after being washed with water and dried. These fibers can be easily added with iodine and can be sufficiently used as medical, food and consumer products as antibacterial fibers.
