Reference numeral 11 is a pusher, which can be moved up and down from a raised position shown by a dotted line to a lowered position shown by a solid line by a drive mechanism (not shown). While the banknotes are being taken out from the taking-out port 6b, the stacking plate 7 is in the lowered position shown by the solid line, and at this time, the pusher 11 applies a constant feeding pressure to the feeding roller 9 to realize proper feeding. A predetermined pressing force is applied by dropping onto the banknote P on the stacking plate.
When a new banknote is fed into the safe by the pair of insertion rollers 12 provided near the insertion opening 6a, the stacking plate 7 moves up to the dotted line position, and the pusher 11 retreats to the dotted line position. After a new banknote is deposited on the banknote P on 7, the pusher 11 drops onto the new banknote and presses it. Actually, guide means and the like are provided for accurately placing new banknotes on the stacking table, but they are omitted here. When the banknotes deposited in the safe having the above-mentioned configuration are taken out of the safe for change and withdrawal, the pusher 11 is placed on the upper surface of the banknotes on the stacking table while the stacking table 7 is lowered to the solid line position. Is lowered to apply a pressing force (paper feeding pressure), and the feeding roller 9 is rotationally driven in the paper feeding direction.

However, since there are new bills and old bills in the actual handling bills, it is difficult to always properly adjust the pressure applied by the pusher. If it is always kept constant, the feeding pressure to the feeding roller 9 varies, and feeding defects such as double feeding, feeding failure, and idling occur. That is, compared to the new bill, the old bill has creases, bends, etc.
When the pressing force from the pusher is set strongly in order to properly feed a plurality of old bills, an excessive pressure is applied to the feeding roller as compared with the case where a new bill is pressed. For this reason, if a new bill is fed while the pressure is set to a large value in advance in accordance with the old bill, the pressure becomes excessively large, and the feeding roller may be locked or may be improperly rotated. Further, if the paper feeding pressure is set to match the paper feeding of the new bill, the paper feeding pressure becomes too weak when feeding the old bill, and the paper feeding cannot be performed due to the idling of the feeding roller 9. In spite of such a problem, conventionally,
The pressure was set and adjusted based only on the feelings and experience of the maintenance man, and it was not possible to sufficiently eliminate the paper feed failure.

BEST MODE FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION The present invention will be described in detail below with reference to the embodiments shown in the accompanying drawings. FIG. 1 is a principal part explanatory view showing the principle of the present invention, and FIG. 2 is a structural explanatory view of an example of a pusher drive mechanism. The safe 20 is housed in a bill handling device 21 such as a vending machine or a money changer, and its housing 2
A stacking table 23, on which bills are placed, is supported in the inside of 2 so as to be able to move up and down by an elevating mechanism (not shown). The stacking table 23 stacks the banknotes received from the insertion slot 27a on its upper surface when the stacking table 23 is in the raised position. The stacking table 23 has a feeding roller 26, and when the stacking table 23 is at the lowest position, the feeding roller 26 rotates to take out the lowermost bill and send it out from the bill taking-out port 27b. The feeding roller 26 is provided with a rotation number detecting means 28 including a rotary encoder and the like, and a feeding detecting means 29 including a photo interrupter is arranged on a feeding path located outside the bill takeout opening 27b. The feeding detection means 29 also detects the presence or absence of double feeding based on the strength of the transmitted light amount of the bill.
Reference numeral 30 is a discharge roller for nipping and taking out the bills fed out of the safe.

The rotary encoder is, for example, a disc-shaped pulse plate coaxially integrated with the rotary shaft of the feeding roller 26, and a pulse for detecting one or a plurality of slits formed in the peripheral portion of the pulse plate. It is assumed that the light emitting element and the light receiving element (photo interrupter) are arranged so as to face each other with the edge portion of the plate interposed therebetween. The photo interrupter detects the slit to detect the rotation speed and the rotation angle of the rotating shaft.

A pusher 31 located above the deposition table 23
Are supported by a drive mechanism 32 as shown in FIG. The drive mechanism 32 is used for the pulse motor 3
3 and a gear 34 connected to the output shaft of the pulse motor 33
And a group of other gears 35 and 36 and a pantograph (expansion / contraction mechanism) 37 integrated with a shaft 36a of the gear 36. The pantogram 37 is connected to the pusher 31 above the pusher 31. The shaft 36a of the gear 36 is fixed to the end of one link 37a located at the free end of the plurality of links constituting the pantograph 37, and the end of the other link 37b is a safe housing or the like. Since the shaft 36a is guided by the elongated hole 39 provided in the, the rotation of the shaft 36a in the arrow direction is converted into the expansion / contraction operation of the pantograph 37. That is, the turning force of the output shaft of the pulse motor 33 that is rotationally driven in the forward and reverse directions on a pulse-by-pulse basis is converted into the lifting operation of the pusher 31. The drive of the pulse motor 33 is controlled by the control unit 40. The control unit 40 controls the rotation speed detecting means 28 when the bill is fed by the feeding roller 26.
The rotation speed detection signal from the sheet feeding device, the presence or absence of paper discharge from the feeding detection means 29, and the signal detecting the presence or absence of double feeding are input, and the strength of the pressure applied by the pusher is determined based on these signals. When the applied pressure is excessive, the applied pressure by the pusher is reduced, and when the applied pressure is too small, the feeding roller is rotated several times and then the applied pressure is increased.

In the above structure, the control unit outputs a control signal to the effect that the banknote should be paid out to the payout roller driving motor. As a result, the payout roller 26 rotates at a predetermined timing and the banknote at a predetermined timing. When it is detected that the sheet has passed through the feeding detection means 29, it means that the feeding pressure is appropriate and the feeding is normally performed. On the other hand, when the bill does not pass through the feeding detection means 29 even after a predetermined time has elapsed after the control unit outputs the control signal to the feeding roller driving motor to the feeding roller driving motor, The paper feeding pressure is too strong and the feeding roller 26 is locked, or the paper feeding pressure is too weak and the feeding roller 2
Since there is a high possibility that 6 is idling, which malfunction is occurring is determined based on the detection signal from the rotation speed detection means 28 that detects the rotation of the delivery roller 26.

First, when the banknote is not being fed out even though the rotation (for example, one rotation) necessary for feeding out one banknote is completed, the feeding roller is idling. It is determined that the cause is that the paper feeding pressure is weak. In the present invention, when it is determined that idle rotation has occurred, the pusher is lowered by a predetermined distance (a predetermined pulse) to increase the pressing force on the bill, but before that, it is necessary to confirm that it is idle rotation. In order to obtain it, the feeding roller 26 is rotated several times (for example, 7 times). It is determined that idle rotation has occurred only when the payout of bills is not detected even after the several rotations, and the pusher is lowered by a certain amount to increase the paper feed pressure. If normal feeding is not performed by driving the feeding roller after raising the feeding pressure once, the pusher is again lowered by a certain amount to raise the feeding pressure. This is sequentially repeated until normal feeding is performed.

Next, when the rotation number detecting means 28 detects one rotation of the feeding roller, but the feeding detecting means 29 detects feeding of a plurality of sheets, or the rotation number detecting means 28 cannot rotate the feeding roller. When the state is detected and the feeding detection means 29 cannot detect the feeding of the bill, it is determined that the pressing force of the pusher is excessive, and the control unit reverses the pulse motor by a predetermined amount in order to raise the pusher by a certain amount. Since the paper feed pressure when double feed occurs is weaker than the paper feed pressure when the delivery roller locks as described above, the pusher pull-up amount is set to be smaller than when lock occurs. Since the operation of moving the pusher up and down is all performed by the pulse motor, it is possible to move up and down by a minute distance unit, and it is possible to secure an appropriate pressure by finely adjusting the sheet feeding pressure.
