とを有し、外リップの内径を上記スリンガの小径円筒部
と非接触もしくは軽接触となる寸法に形成したことを特

筒部6の小径円筒部6aに、外方に向って傾斜した外リ
ップ7bは円筒部6の大径円筒部6bにそれぞれ密封機
能を達成する所定のしめしろをもって摺接させてある。
なお、外リップ7bの内径は小径円筒部6aと非接触か
軽接触となる寸法に設定されている。また、シール体7
の外側面には、斜外方に延びるサイドリップ7cを形成
し、フランジ部5に所定のしめしろをもって摺接させて
いる。次に密封装置の組み立てを説明する。組み立て時
は先ずシール体7をポンプ軸1と軸受外輪2との間に挿
入し、シール体7の外周縁を軸受外輪2の溝2aに固定
する。次いでポンプ軸1に嵌合したスリンガ4をシール
体7側に圧入する。この際、内リップ7aは軸受内部方
向すなわち組み込み方向に向っているので反転の心配は
ない。外リップ7bは軸受外部方向すなわち組み込み方
向と逆なので従来の構造では反転のおそれがあるが、本
発明は傾斜段部6cが形成されているので、小径円筒部
6aに所定の間隙をもしくは軽接触を存して挿入されて
いる外リップ7bは該傾斜段部6cにより徐々に上方に
押し上げられ乍ら該傾斜段部6cに沿って上昇し、大径
円筒部6bに反転することなく円滑に圧接シールされ
る。なお、図1の実施例においては、スリンガ4は板材
からプレス成形すればよく、さらに、大径円筒部6bは
小径円筒部6aに略平行すなわち軸線に略平行な円筒面
に形成されているため、外リップ7bの軸方向位置に関
係なくリップ接触圧が一定に保てる。

リップと、非密封側に傾斜し上記スリンガの大径円筒部
に所定のしめしろをもって摺接する外リップとを有し、
外リップの内径を上記スリンガの小径円筒部と非接触も
しくは軽接触となる寸法に形成したことを特徴とする密
