Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance the utilization value of panjas (kapok fibers) and extend the field of utilization by enabling dyeing of the kapok fibers without deteriorating various characteristics possessed by the kapok fibers which have hitherto been regarded as undyeable and merely have utilization value as waddings, e.g. nonabsorptivity for water, strong adsorptivity for oils, ultrafine fibers, an ultralow specific gravity and lightweight and providing dyed panjas. CONSTITUTION: This dyed panjas are obtained by sufficiently pretreating kapok fibers with tepid water utilizing anions possessed by vegetable fibers, dipping the pretreated kapok fibers in a liquid prepared by blending a basic dye (water- soluble) of cations with a small amount of an alcohol and hot water at about 80 deg.C, coloring the kapok fibers while rubbing and loosening the kapok fibers, drying the kapok fibers, repeating the steps two or three times, carrying out the color fixing post-treatment, redrying the treated kapok fibers, repeating the treatment and returning the kapok fibers to the original state. The resultant panjas dyed by the method are extremely bright and provides colored panjas having glossiness without deteriorating various characteristics of the kapok fibers.

2. Description of the Related Art Kapok fibers do not absorb water, strongly adsorb oil, and because the whole is waxy, it cannot be boiled or used with a solvent for dyeing. Is destroyed. For this reason, dyeing of Kapok fiber is impossible and has been technically neglected.

In order to achieve the above object, the dyeing method of the present invention and the dyed panya make use of anions existing in plant fibers, and use Kapok with lukewarm water containing a small amount of a surfactant. The fibers are loosened and sufficiently treated for pretreatment, and the fibers are soaked in hot water of about 80 ° C in which a small amount of alcohol is added to a water-soluble basic dye of cations, and sufficiently colored so as to be kneaded and dried. Do this step 2-3
Repeat the process, add the tannin component, apply it, and then repeatedly wash with warm water until the color does not fade, dehydrate and dry again. After drying, it goes through a loosening process including treatment to make a dyed and manufactured panya with the original characteristics.

[Operation] The panya colored by the dyeing and manufacturing method according to the present invention, which is an ionic bond effect, has a characteristic that it strongly sucks oil but does not absorb water at all, and can be restored to an ultrafine fiber having a hollow structure. The colored panya becomes a fiber with a luster similar to silk.

[Example] Dyeed panya can be used as a material to be wound around a needle for fly fishing, which requires many colors, because it has a low specific gravity and does not absorb water at all.
This is a substitute for animal hair, feathers, silk and chemical fibers that have been used in this field, and because it is a plant fiber, it also leads to so-called environmental protection. In addition, when the dyed Panya is made into a non-woven fabric, it is hardened with an adhesive, etc., or it is napped, it has a luster, is light and extremely fine, and strongly absorbs oil. The fields of application will expand to other areas.
